How do I clear my jump destination?
Whenever I accept a mission I plot the course right away but when I do this on a planet the nav point is almost always on the other side of the planet and blocked. When I go into the navigation menu and clear the destination it still stay "locked" on my nav compass and I cant activate my Frame Drive. How do I clear it so I can use my drive to leave the planet?

EDIT

I'd like to thank everyone for helping me on this. I found a decent workaround by just opening my navigation panel (the one on the left) then selecting some random item in my system to lock onto and then unlock it right away. This clears up whatever is in my "Jump Compass" thing. But I'm definitely going to rebind Super Cruise and Hyperspace to separate buttons.

The only "clear target" bind is to target the next jump in your route, which would not work for what you are wanting to do.

The other option is to target something else or to untarget what you have targeted (using the targeting binds or the navigation panel).

Okay. So the first thing you can to do is leave the planet. Fly up towards space at any angle really, doesn't matter, until your not mass locked by the planet.

When you're not mass locked anymore you'll wanna enter Super Cruise til you leave the planet, then you can swing around it and make your jump.

I'm not 100% sure how to do it on a keyboard, I use an Xbox gamepad so on that it's Hold Y and Press the Up Arrow.

If my nav target is obscured, I just set a new one to the system star and then reset it once I'm far enough away from the planet.

Simple, just select another station, nav beacon or zone in your current system. Then, jump into SC at 40 or degrees up, re-plot your mission destination and navigate around planet until target system is a solid circle - and engage FSD again.

Or you just go to a supercruise by a special button, without changing your destination stars selections.

The supercruise and hyperspace jump can be seperately bound if the buttons or shift modifiers are avaliable, If no just select something else in the current system you are in line the planet, station, or local star, and the fsd will going to supercrusie rather than high wake.

when you start engage escape vector to supercruise fly around planet (quickest way is fly high up outa gravity well) until ur target is clear to jump.

Yea, so I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to point out that EVERYONE is telling people to do... which is to have separate key bindings for SC, and HJ... DOES NOT WORK for what the original post made.

If you have another system selected, you cannot, CANNOT enter super cruise without aligning yourself to the target.

Yes, I have separate key bindings for the two.

Happens to me all the time. I'm on a route... enter a system, and the next target is on the other side of the star I'm at.
If I exit super cruise in that system (it happens), I cannot get back into super cruise to get around that star, until I go and select something else. I cannot leave the other system targeted... period.

Thanks.

There are actually 3 keybindings, the 2 I use are "Toggle Frame shif drive" and "Supercruise". The second one allows to enter supercruise without aligning. The third is "Hyperspace jump" and I leave it blank.

Exactly. It works even if your destination is obscured by a planet and you can't align to it. You still can go to supercruise by a dedicated "supercruise" bound button.
