But don't waste your cargo space for a fighter. Fighting in a trader ship is generally not economically plausible. You can make more money by moving your cargo faster.
If you're in a type 9, just boost away with 4 SYS pips and hope for the best, engineer your shields to improve survivability (my type 9 has 1000mj using a 5a prismatic, and a engine focused distributer to spam boost while having 4 pips in systems)
However if you want to fight, in a different trading ship, I would use reirbirating cascade torpedoes and packhounds. I dare any npc pirate to interdict my trading cutter. Lock on, fire and they have no shields, permanently. Then target their drives with packhounds and laugh maniacally. Then I'm out of ammo but its a trading ship so who cares.
Catch me if you can.
Meep meep!
just submit to interdiction then boost and jump
Shock Cannons!
If you deploy a fighter and then jump out you will have to replace that fighter later which will probably cost more than 1 unit of your cargo.
A hauler armed to the teeth with shock cannons is also a neat idea :)
