Elite Dangerous

Thruster engineering, heat management and drifting (also plasma accelerators)
Ok so while I love the cutter, I recently manage to drift it ass first into an asteroid, lose half of my shield and look really stupid while shooting at an eagle who probably found it very funny until he realised 24 packhounds we're on their way towards him.

So far I have just built ships for optimal multiplier, i.e. Dirty drives, drag drives.

Does being closer to optimal mass reduce drifting? If so I could use drive distributers.

I also have a vulture with 2 advanced plasma accelerators and dirty drives g3, it's already plenty manouverable so should I just give it clean drive tuning to reduce its heat levels? I have no idea how much of a difference that will make

And finally, if you use a plasma vulture, do you think 2 overcharged plasma slug accelerators would be better than 2 advanced efficient plasmas? Maybe add a little fuel tank and scoop

Dont forgot your power plant engineering the most heat comes from bad power plant engineering(on vulture you need g1,g2, or g3 overch. plus thermal spread) ...combat ship always dirty drives...drag effect, plasma always efficient if more than 1,standard better than advanced, slugs are not recommended at all as they reduce damage severe, plus they will drain your vulture's fuel tank very fast...consider them only on a cutter...

Precisely my experience, too. The slug punch is not as satisfactory, and I have to watch my iCourier's fuel closely (or sometime I even install an extra fuel tank).

Dirty drives with drive distributor experimental will help with the drift, but on the cutter, it's just going to drift. Drive distributor also runs cooler than drag, and IMHO are better for combat. I never try to outrun my enemy in combat, and I've never had a problem keeping up.

Some ships just have a lot of drift. The Cutter is one of those ships that are going to drift no matter what you do.

I got DD G5 with Drag Drives for my Cutter's thrusters. It maneuvers reasonably well but can't get rid of drifting completely. Be careful not to boost close to airlock or asteroids.

Yes, I think Cutter looks better than Clipper.

Ooh I should name my cutter waltzing matilda

Maybe waltzing battle Matilda if it fits

And also put drive distributers on it, the overheating is a problem anyway.
