Vive Pro Lens Mod (GearVR)
I just modded my Vive Pro with some GearVR lenses, applied the distortion fix (tried several, actually), and really didn't like the mod. While the lenses are crisp, no god rays, it has a really bad other effect. It distorts the 3d environment, making everything look closer and smooshed and out of proportion. It ruined my immersion factor. So I reverted back to the fresnel lenses successfully and saw a huge difference.

So this is me saying it's probably not worth $60 to do the upgrade. Plus if you're not technical at all, it could turn into a nightmare scenario. Keep the fresnel lenses.

many youtube vids say the same thing about gear VR lens it is a waste of money.

best option for better graphics for VR is a better GPU

Most posts/videos I saw were overwhelmingly positive, and I will say the image is much better, but the distortion really kills the benefits. And really my comments apply to Elite Dangerous being most affected by the lens distortion. Not sure if it’s noticeable in other games.

I've recently done the lens mod on my old Vive and used barrel_distortion_correction_v3, although I didn't notice any distortion before doing this.
Stupid question coming up. Did you fit the lens's the correct way up. Flat side to the eyes, domed side facing down. I've seen people complain about the lens's and then they realised they were up side down.
Just to get rid of the god rays makes a massive difference.

Yes, I made sure they were flat side up. I also used the barrel correction specific for the Vive pro. I got less fisheye effect as a result, but the 3D perspective was way off. The inside of the cabin looked smaller and the walls looked closer than they should.

Oh well, you've done the best thing by reverting. I haven't really noticed the problem you've had.
It's a shame though, getting rid of those god rays and being focused across the width is worth it but probably the Vive Pro is a lot better then my vive.
