Dropping- too close?
Hi, I started the game and got a courier job. I jumped to the system I need to be in, but when I try to jump to the station it drops me out of hyper speed because I'm too close, even though I'm still 26 minutes away. Is that just how the game is? Do I have to keep flying towards it for 20 minutes?

when you jump to a system it will drop you out at the main star in that system, you will then ned to continue on to your target hub via super cruise , when you get within 10 seconds of the hub , drop your speed down half way in the blue and you will be able to drop into the hub without over shooting, The very most you can do is 7 secs but do it about 10 sec to be safe.

So what can I do now? Jump out of the system and jump back in? I'm not even sure if I can jump out at all because it drops me out of super cruise instantly.

no when you arive then you ned to turn and face your target , if its still another jum or so away then just keep turning , face target , jump , untill you are in the right system. if your in the right system then you need to lock the starport and supercruise to it, (you will already be in supercuise when you enter the system) Speed up to max and wait till 10 secs (verry bottom number on the target range ).

Also you are not OUT of Super cruise , it just slowed you down so you can turn safely.

I'm not? I'm pretty sure I am. Don't you enter supercruise by pressing J and throttling up? As soon as I do that it drops me.

J is for jump (by default) super cruise is for when you are in a system and you want to travel within that system, When you JUMP INTO a system you are automaticly in Supercruise when you arive, just point your nose at target and throttle up.

I'm at fill throttle but I'm just going at normal speed ;-;

Don't worry about the wording btw, I just feel like and idiot for probably missing something

That said I'm "only" 10 minutes away from the station now. Yaay.

lol i think you took a job that is verry far away from drop-in pint . best way is to read mission targed range from drop-in point, i only take them if they are about max of 60 ls away and that is long, normal for me is about 15 ls and 30 ls. from main star.

Sounds like you took a page out of Icarus' book by flying too close to the star.

You'll need to face 180° away from the star (look for the Escape Vector when charging) and enter supercruise then fly away from the star for a good few seconds before heading back towards your intended target.

If you've got an obscured target make sure you deselect it first.

it depends on the system, some systems are very large , and others are kinda small. 10 mins in a system is about 60.000ls from main star, (not real just a guess at this time) but thats what you need to look for.

Wait! I remember this same thing happening to me when I was trying to get to my target station...I would drop out of hypercruise early...then try to jump back into it and would immediately get punted back out. Often still 10+ minutes from my destination. So screw it, I'd just trudge the remaining minutes...go grab a cup of coffee or whatever.

Turns out that I was pointed right at it...and if I were to continue on in hypercruise, I'd have slammed into it. So it'd drop me out early instead. Because I was going too fast, ignoring the blue safe zone and my ship would continually slap me back to thruster speed to save us both the possible trauma.

Is this what you're experiencing?

Try nosing down and pointing a bit underneath your intended station before attempting to enter hypercruise (pressing J). Anywhere but directly at the station.

Yeah I remember it being a pain to learn how to travel right, but once you get it, you'll laugh at your ignorant self for having been so clueless. It really does get a lot easier.

Yeah that's pretty much exactly it, thank you. Since then I just made sure to get it right in one or two passes, but I'll try this next time.
