What is the compass heading/ pitch angle indicator in the center of the cockpit view?
Yesterday, as I was FSD to another system to get rid of the weird state I was in after a game crash (see my other thread), I hit a button by mistake that put this HUD like display in the center of the cockpit view: a horizontal indicator of degrees and I guess a vertical pitch indicator. Where did this come from?? It was not there by default when I started playing this game less than 20 hours ago AND i cant find any key binding for it..... I don't mind it being there, but I just want to know what it is called and how to toggle it ON/OFF

Not sure what you are describing. Screenshot?

Are you close to a planet? It could be the planetary landing hud. If so, it will go away once you fly away from the planet.

Could also be you changed cockpit mode. Look for you keybinding for "switch HUD mode".

Yeah, screenshot would probably be helpful.

The compass and pitch ladder appear automatically when you enter low orbit of a landable body (blue ring) and remains while you are there and down on the surface.
It goes away when you leave orbit.
It is there to help with planetary flight.
You can not activate it manually.

sounds like you might have hit the = key. i believe that turns on orbital lines in the hud.

From what is being asked I think Miorin's suggestion is probably right. Close to a planet. o7
I agree with it being the planetary hud; it went away on its own.
