Exploration and Bounty Anaconda
Hi there,

I was wondering if one you got an Anaconda setup for exploration and some bounty hunting along the way. Since I haven't done much engineering yet, I'd prefer a noob-friendly build.

Is it possible to build the Anaconda for both purposes, or would it be terrible to use?

Looking forward to replies :)

Your options are to build a combat ship and to explore in it, ignoring its small jump range (say, 3x more jumps to go anywhere). Or to store one set of modules and refit your ship before changing roles. Or just to buy a second ship and build each one for its own role.

Bounty hunting and exploration don't really go together. If you want to explore around the bubble, then just slap on dss and srv modules to a combat build.

Exploration build =all slots for lightest explorer modules and no weapon. Fighter build = all slots for tons of armor/shield and all the weapons you can get.

My main ship, PVE and bounty is very easy when paired with expert fixed beam fighter.

I just sit back and relax. It is grade 5 maxed out though. I usually do a bit of everything when visiting Colonia with it.

Take a look at my nomad anaconda build i know it's not really noob friendly but you can cut corners a bit or use it as a pointer.

It's probably an unpopular opinion but I think that the only thing that's mandatory for exploration is big fuel scoop, long jump range is more of a convenience and really needed only if you want to go to the edge of the galaxy, where there are less stars. So you can slap anything you want on your explorer, remember that saying: "it's journey that matters, not the destination" and that more jumps=more system scans=more credits when you get back.
But also I need to admit that guns are mostly useless outside of the bubble, there's just no one to fight.

The long jump range is not needed for the exploration, itself. But it's very much needed when you are done exploring and want to come home. ;) The difference might be coming home alive, or self-destructing.

You can get an anaconda set up pretty well for combat and still go 40 ly, but as always trying to do more than 1 role will make a ship worse at everything.

Large shields and cell banks are heavy, and you'll need all the smaller slots for exploration tools and an interdictor so a hull tank is a bad and expensive idea but the damage modelling is cool so there's that.

I think OPs question has been answered pretty well, but can we take a moment and point out he is asking for a noob friendly Anaconda build?

If you are still new, might I suggest two specialized medium ships instead? Unless you are already swimming in that void opal moolah.

I second that. A Krait MkII as a fighter, and an Asp Explorer as an obvious are pretty good choices to try. Will handle better, too.

hi there! Thanks for all the answers! I didn't know that there were basically no enemies outside the bubble.. I though that there always at least some trying to blow you up.

For a long time the anaconda has been my goal in the game... because it's one of the biggest ships and felt like an "endgame ship", although it probably isn't anymore because of the engineering and even the corvette/cutter. Nevertheless that ship has always been the goal.
Therefore, even if it's the most logical thing to do, I probably wont get one ship for each role as of now.

Since I've just very recently jumped on the painite mining train and earned more money than usual in an extremely short amount of time. Since mining is only fun for a short period of time, I wanted to finally get an anaconda.

I guess there's still a lot for me to see in the bubble, therefore I might have to deal with the lower jump range. Maybe I'll also just change some things along the way. For the time being I'll probably go with a build more focussed on fighting and see how it goes.

Thanks again!

going back to original question - i don't see why not? it would mean compromises here and there, but conda turns like a beached whale like it is so personally i wouldn't slap more armor on it to use as a pure combat ship. and it has enough slots to fit exploration tools plus a decent shield and a bank. it's not a dogfighter but all the hardpoints give it a rather serious edge, and (stupid idea... really stupid idea...) you can save a lot of weight and increase jump range by fitting rails everywhere (max class 2, giving you reduced weight). so yeah, you can use anaconda as an explorer with a really good range and serious bite (but maybe pick your fights wisely)

so i'd say yeah do that. however perhaps also consider getting a DBX as it's cheap (if you can already afford a conda), convenient (small and lands everywhere) and quite maneauverable so pleasant to fly. jump range mariginally smaller. conda will get you and your whole workshop wherever you want to get to (while killing pirates along the way) but it won't be that much fun. and if you're taking the whole workshop (guns, shields, not totally class 1 d everywhere ship etc) you're losing a lot of jump range anyway

and cobra mk3 for bounty hunting. that thing is tiny but absolutely awesome (personal and very biased opinion). also it costs pennies. really, pocket change
