But, thanks for your input that had nothing to do with my question, really appreciate it =)
Even though I get the point of using sandbox term only in relation to games, that allow us to "shape the world", I personally use this term in a broader scope. For me sandbox term generally applies to every game, that "gives us the world to play with". Basically non-linear games, which instead of putting us into some kind of singleplayer campaign, put us on the map and leave us to do our things. That's my personal reason to call games like ED sandboxes, but it doesn't mean I don't call it a space-sim as well.

You said it was a polarising game, calling it "marmite", and yes I take issue with that because it is not true, as I point to, in my quote above (in this post)... even people who LIKE the game find it boring, so in terms of facts... how the product is perceived by the customer is significantly more nuanced than you suggest.
A.k.a THERE IS NO MARMITE...!!!
Also discussing your attempt to project the concept that "the player-base is polarised/marmatized" into this discussion is wholly relevant..
What you are effectively doing is incorrectly identifying and labelling (for the reader) separate groups within the player/forum-base, who in your "projection" have directly opposing views, which has as an extrapolated conclusion that "it is the player/forum-base who is at fault" with all their polarised in-fighting within the forums which is why the product receives criticism (a common argument used to undermine criticism of the product).
Now we are all aware of what you did (intentionally or not) by saying "marmite" - we can discuss the OP's topic with a little more transparency.
So, you're trying to say the game isn't polarizing? Then why does it seem like a vast majority either really like it or really dislike it?
But ok, whatever, you don't think the game is polairzing, like marmite? Fair enough. I do. ;)
