Look in PC/Technical Support - I think it's there
https://prnt.sc/o8ft9w This screenshot is of Elite Dangerous, there's no option to view a CD key anywhere.
https://prnt.sc/o8ftmf This one here is of Gta 5, You can see on the right side of steam I can view the CD key as well as when I right click it.
I would contact Frontier Support and send an email along with a screenshot of the gift purchase in your transaction history - even though it's a gift it should still be listed there in account details or whatnot.
On a side note, sorry for the trouble, and I hope that once you play you enjoy it as much as we do.
http://prntscr.com/o8gaks Screenshot there
Taking a look at the version that was gifted it says that it includes the base game as well as DLC from what I understand. I don't know why they would sell the game including DLC but not include the key in order to play it.
Top left corner: Steam>Settings
New window should open. Account>View Account Details (in upper right corner).
From there, the window should change and you will be able to see the hyperlink that says "View licences and product key activations". It should be listed there somewhere.
EDIT: Too late lol
