Fixed are vastly superior, if you've got the skill to aim them.
Shock cannons are my favorite weapon, but they aren't particularly useful because of ammo restrictions, no engi and difficulty to synth.
Thank you! I can use PAs and fixed cannons, but not sure how shocks compare to them. Either way, even if I don't have the skill to aim them it's better to acquire one :P
Shock cannons have among the highest DPS in the game, Combined with incredible projectile velocity. If they could be engineered, they would quickly become, at the very least, a hugely popular PVP weapon for the sheer amount of hull damage you can put down. Imagine a frag cannon firing a single, high-powered slug. As it stands now, they are a hilarious way to kill pretty much any ship in four or five seconds (At point blank range), and then go rearm lol.
