Level 4 Shock Cannons?
I ignored this weapon for the longest time, but when I finally gave it a try, I fell in love! It was perfect.
When I finally got a large class ship I was so disappointed to find that no level 4 existed to act as my heavy damage weapon.
Does anyone know if the devs Ever plan to add this weapon? I really hope they do.

Same reason they don't have tier4 Railguns, balancing.

i wish they would and let us engineer them just like cannons omg it would be insane with force shells and high cap magazine.

Which would you guys recommend, fixed or gimballed? I want to unlock some medium and large variant, but not sure which. They require way too much to unlock to experiment here.

Fixed are vastly superior, if you've got the skill to aim them.

Shock cannons are my favorite weapon, but they aren't particularly useful because of ammo restrictions, no engi and difficulty to synth.

Thank you! I can use PAs and fixed cannons, but not sure how shocks compare to them. Either way, even if I don't have the skill to aim them it's better to acquire one :P

Shock cannons have among the highest DPS in the game, Combined with incredible projectile velocity. If they could be engineered, they would quickly become, at the very least, a hugely popular PVP weapon for the sheer amount of hull damage you can put down. Imagine a frag cannon firing a single, high-powered slug. As it stands now, they are a hilarious way to kill pretty much any ship in four or five seconds (At point blank range), and then go rearm lol.

Shock cannons run out of ammo too fast for my liking. Synthesis is also expensive requiring 4 mats iirc.

I use gimbled. I find that as long as I don't go Crazy firing them, but slowly, so they maintain their accuracy, they're a great way to deal hull damage. I find I can get about half an hour's worth of fighting from my large shock cannon. I only used on on my Krait Mk2. I used a multicannon with corrosive shells to boost the damage of the cannon, a large beam laser do melt shields, and two long distance medium beam lasers, to engage enemies when trying to conserve my other ammo.
