I can imagine it being literally just inches shy of the mailslot in all directions.
it wouldn't surprise me if it involved some other mechanic outside the mailslot to prevent it being used as a mega-passenger ship capable or making billion credits in 1 run.
i play day by day.... i dont care about new ships :)
I don't either. I'm just thinking that there's no tool currently ingame that will allow us to actually FIX a station that's been attacked by teh goids and given the huge cargo requirements, maybe they're setting up gameplay rather than just dropping a new ship into the game with no purpose.
At this point I'm not sure I want to grind cargo to fix those stations...I mean, who cares if they're running or not?
if you like trading, it's a massive ship.
with how the devs balance there game it honesly sounds like another ship that looses to the anaconda and clipper in cargo capacity but will be cheaper and bigger because you know a jetset jet obviously can hold more cargo since it's more expensive
quite the opposite i would imagine since the Panther in the lore and past variations claim it was capable of emptying stations of commodities, even they scale it down to be more in line with the size to fit into a station in ED it would still outhaul the the conda and cutter and likely cost double or triple as much as those ships.
Because Elite Dangerous is a MMO, unlike previous Elite titles (not even sure all of them had multiplayer of any sort), so balance is important. People salivating over the thought of a ship able to do everything all at once while being nigh-invincible are kidding themselves.
If it ever is added to the game (and I'm sure it will eventually), it'll be a big trade ship (the Imperial Cutter is multipurpose type, so's the Anaconda), like the Type 9's big brother. Also extremely unlikely it will be much bigger than any of the existing big ships, as it still has to fit through the mail slot, and a ship "that dwarfs the Anaconda" clearly wouldn't.
check again, the devs buffed trade ships not that long ago so that they are still the better choice for Strict trading over a multipurpose ship, the type 9 carries more cargo than an anaconda does.
the Panther will out perform whatever comparable sized multipurpose in its weight class.
How much would a Panther be able to carry? Would it really make that much of a difference? Given the small numbers that would be able to likely afford it for starters, even if it was quadruple a cutter I'd have still not moved it to 10% mind!
What the devs need to do is start a series of CGs for a couple of these materials to get the community working. They need to move on with CGs like they told us there were going to after 2.1 and have more, more automated etc. And what would be a better automated trigger for a CG than a busted station?
