The lag-stutter smash through the ground is probably just a wildcard. Not the first time I've had a lag-stutter on planets, but it's the first time I've gone through the planet. I'm literally trembling with anger at this stupid game right now. I just wanted to vent. I'm done. That's it.
I will say that I feel sorry for the new players brought in by the sale right now. The game's not usually in such a sorry state, but they won't know that.
EDIT: God, I just added that up. That was more than 100,000,000cr I lost.
EDIT EDIT: It's in part to the stupid hitbox of the Krait. Those sensors on each side seem to have a hitbox. I assume they clipped into the ground after I lag-stuttered on final approach, and I vibrated myself to death.
Latest patch or before that? If they could fix it on their end, and suddenly everything works without crashes, then it's got to be a player data issue introduced by the patch. It's crashing for both myself and my wife. Probably 20 crashes in all on her end, at least, and I'm guessing I'm not far from that myself.
I don't know. I'm convinced that the patch is a spaghetti code disaster, but it's okay - either way, I've lost my appetite to play this game for the foreseeable future. To lose all that effort in such a way just makes me sick to my stomach. It's not the first time I've gotten stuck in geometry and exploded. It *is* the first time I lost this much money in the doing of it, though.
I appreciate your patience and not jumping down my throat, anyway. I know I was raging pretty hard. I'm just going to let this thing go and see what's happening on the other side of the fence. It can't be much more miserable than this.
First time was the No Man's Sky Beyond update. Their poor decision to switch from OpenGL (which worked fine) to Vulkan made the game leak memory like a sieve and caused endless bugs.
Now this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. ED for me regularly softlocks within an hour of gameplay - graphics freeze but sound indicates I'm still in control. Logs are useless, no error code - just "unclean exit, idk lmfao.'
ROLLBACK.
Hahahaha, you've got my sides hurting. Guess which game I thought I'd go back to so I could get away from this mess? Ugh, space games hate me almost as much as I love them. Vulkan....isn't such a grand experiment. So many games are starting to require it rather than offer it as an option, and are suffering badly for it. The Surge 2 comes to mind. Performance in NMS is not where it should be, and you really do start to notice the issues more and more as you play in a single session. *sigh*
Elite's lockups give literal error "codes," which are entirely unhelpful to us, and judging from the quality of Frontier's QA, possibly the developers as well. I've been getting a veritable rainbow of error codes. Black Adders, Mauve, Taupe I think. I wonder if there's a Chartreuse Anaconda or a Fuschia Taipan just waiting to be discovered.
I'm still sticking with NMS, though, poor performance and all. I'm a grown man. I don't throw controllers. I almost did today.
Do you do it in a wing? If you deep-core mine with someone in your wing, it's utterly broken for the vast majority of people. This has been on the issue tracker since *December.* I only figured this out today. I'm slow on the uptake, because I've only recently come back to Elite. Imagine my surprise at the state it's in, and that they haven't fixed this nearly a year later.
This really isn't an Elite: Dangerous hate-brigade kind of thing. Yes, I'm still furious that I lost out on four hours of income due to a completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bug. I can't help that. But c'mon, the amount of bugs *is* ridiculous. And a lot of these are from months - MONTHS - ago! I'm not mad for no reason, here!
When leaving local and jumping to SC weapons and other non SC modules are showing up in the UI. If you then try to deploy them they disappear and can no longer be switched back to. They should disappear when you jump into SC since weapons and other local modules like limpets, etc cannot be used in SC.
The UI seems to be very badly impacted. This is pure conjecture with not a shred of proof to back it up - but it all just distinctly feels like they simply sandwiched in a bunch of new code with little regard for how well it's going to interact with the old code. I'm reminded of my own sloppy, amateurish attempts to copy-paste blocks of pre-made code into existing files, which would often insert incorrect spaces and break syntax, causing general mayhem.
Also, getting randomly charged with assault or murder is far from an uncommon occurrence. Nothing new on that front.
I've seen NPC's charging FSD *while firing weapons.* I've been continually shot at by zombie enemies with zero hull. *Frequently* this has occurred. I get crash-to-main-menu error codes for handling cargo, trying divvy up hauls with my wife. Deep-core mining with friends isn't *guaranteed* to break, but it does so most of the time, for a great number of people. Of all the problems, it's egregious this one in particular hasn't been addressed.
Fixing all this is going to be such a titanic effort, I wonder if the devs will simply throw their hands up in surrender. At the very least, any new feature developments are probably going to be significantly impacted or delayed. So much is going wrong, all at once, and it's very concerning.
And yes I've been seeing more and more NPCs FSD charging while firing at me and also entering FSD while firing on me.
Vulure AI seems to be broken. I can get into a a 'death dance' with them in my FSL where they are in front of me and I'm constantly holding down thrust while maintaining throttle. The Vultures will not fire on me and will just sit there and die.
