Does all this guardian stuff have any real use, anyway? Besides dumping it at the nearest market, that is?

They are used in the Ram tah mission which gives you some guardian lore (and 100 mil if you complete all of it).

You can also use them to anger thargoid structures if you are so inclined.

Yes, it goes to the story of the Guardians. You need to use them together in different orders while scanning everything possible and destroy what you can.. Also the data and materials you get from scanning and destroying are used to get the Guardian modules. Unless you are bug hunting the only Guardian module extremely useful is the FSD booster. Depending on the size you purchase the FSD booster will net you great fuel economy and a nice boost on your jump distance.

Great, thanks! I won't unlock Ram Tah in the foreseeable future (trading with 55 markets sounds murderously boring), so there is probably little point in hoarding them. The FSD booster is indeed the main reason I'm here, though.

You don't need to unlock Ram Tah to do the missions.

You don't get them there. You get them in Menee. Mitchell dock or Weber dock for "decrypting the guardian logs" and Felice dock for "decoding the ancient ruins".

Indeed.

It's quite the undertaking if you want to do all of it. But you get 1 mil per lore bite and you can cash out whenever you want by going back to the station.

Well, the Guardian sites have been reasonably manageable up to now, the most difficult part seems to be finding a landing spot. Should have taken the DBX instead of the Phantom. But I will need Thargoid samples for the mission, from what I gather, and I haven't run into the Thargoids yet. It will take a dedicated outfit and good combat skills, as I understand.
