"A Frame Shift Drive Interdictor is used to interdict pilots and NPCs in supercruise. Maximum length of an interdiction tether is measured in seconds (between 3 and 16 sec) depends on class and rating of the interdictor, and scales with the speed of your craft. For example, having an interdictor with 10s range and having speed of 10c will result in a 100ls effective interdiction range. Note that all the interdictors have a facing limit of 50 degrees by default.

To use a Frame Shift Drive Interdictor, it must be bound to a fire group, (e.g. secondary fire group, default "N") then activated while in supercruise. When in range and behind the target press the dedicated fire group button to engage. Keep your target sighted so they can't escape. "

You can always bind it to your primary fire group (that trigger is usually easier to press than the secondary, "missiles" button). As the FSDI only works in supercruise, while regular weapons only work in normal space, so they can share the same group without problems.
