Asp Explorer has a terrible jump range
So, I just bought an Asp Explorer thinking that it would have a decent jump range like about 30-40 ly but it turns out it only has a jump range of 13 ly-14 ly! please tell me how to fix this.

the aspx is one of the ships in the game with the highest jump, it goes up to 60ly with the help of engeneers. Its one of the 3 ships with the longest jump, along with the dbx and anaconda. You have to buy a better fsd A rated and D rate some less essencial mods, the Ds are the lightest modules you can get, it all depends on the use your gonna give to your ship

An exploration build with hangar, shields etc. could look something like this:

https://coriolis.io/outfit/asp?code=A0p0tdFfliddsnf4----------3c0s43v61y2i2f.Iw19gDOQ.Aw18WQ%3D%3D.H4sIAAAAAAAAA2MWqRFlYPjPJnTgwX8gYGAAAA%2FP86sRAAAA.EweloBhBGA2EoFMCGBzANokMK6A%3D with around 56 LY full tank and 58 LY on low fuel, or 53 LY if you stick with the standard tank.

If you strip it clean for maximum range you can get to around 60 LY on full tank and a little more on fumes. It's all about engineering and fitting the right modules. That makes the AspX have one of the best jump ranges in the game.

My Asp has a Jumprange of 45 Ly you shouldnt speak bad about the Asp :/

WOW just when you think...never mind.

My ASP, which is around the third best jumping ship I believe will jump 47.5+

Best ship I ever purchased at the time of my game experience.

Guys, galls or some combination of both do research, learn, ask questions BEFORE you make incorrect comments

Asp X is one of my most used ships in the game. Has one of the best VR views too.

So easy to land when you can simply look down at your feet

I got upper 20's out of mine but you need engineers to go much beyond that.

Remove everything except core internals.
Install largest A rated FSD.
Change all core internals to D rated internals.
Now write down your minimum jump range.
Now try other core internals like 2D thrusters instead of 4D thrusters. Etc.
Write down you minimum jump range.
You should have some good range.
Now add what you must have for optional internals and such.
Note the number for jump range as you mouse huvver over each item.

If you plan to explore search for exploration guides.
You don't even have to do all that, just go to the nearest high tech system, then look at your jump range stat while your buying modules, just buy the ones that keep increasing your range. You don't need to do complicated math, all you gatta do is look at that up arrow.

With G5 extended jump range engineering you can get like 45.
If you want the best jump range in the game you gotta save up for an Annie.
I'm never gonna get the money for anaconda from just exploring
I've made about 300 million cr exploring in my Asp Ex.

My Asp Explorer can jump 50 lyrs or so with grade 5 FSD engineering on an A rated module. You think its jump range is bad now just think of when A rated is all we had. Now the jump ranges you can get out of ships is mind blowing. I can get to Colonia now in my DBX which has a range of 55 lyrs in no time flat.

I remember back in the day when I thought my little Adder getting 28 lyrs was some kind of accomplishment.

A rated FSD and everything else D rated. Grade 5 engineer or even Grade 3 engineer the FSD and it will boost the range significantly. Also engineer the power plant, grade 1 or 2 is fine just to get a little more power so you can carry everything you want. You will want the Adv Disc Scanner, Surface Scanner and an SRV and maybe a repair module but not required. Just be careful around the brown dwarfs, neutrons and so forth. ED likes to drop you in right on top of them.

I haven't flown an AspX in awhile so I don't remember stats off the top of my head. But if you want to improve jump range, buy the largest FSD that is A-rated.

You can further improve jump range by making all your core internal modules D-rated.

If you have the Horizons Expansion, you can also go to an engineer (Elvira Martuk or Felicity Farseer) and give them components to enhance jump range. You can theoretically get around 45 light years, maybe more.

Good luck!

get a diamondback explorer, half the price and recently buffed
with decent rolls and a full exploration build you can easily break 55ly, good rolls and you can break 60
