2. use your advanced discovery scaner to discover all the objects in the system. if you dont have one, you will have to drop into the nav becon and get close enough to complete a scan of it to get the system data.
you mission will be updated
3. target the new destination found in your system map (F2 by default) and fly to it in super cruise.
4. depending on the mission, you will have to wait around for a signal source or fly to a point on a planet surface. in any case, the place to be will say "mission target" in your hud.
5. scoop up the salvage item(s) and head back to collect the cash :)
...is there a guide on how to do that because my fsd drops me out 4.4mm away from the planet's surface and THAT is a long damn way for 100k (also I don't want to try to fly into it then find out that I'm supposed to do somethign else and have my ship blow up from hitting a planet or something)
also, do you have horizons?... just wondering if you got a planetary mission and are playing the base game :)
"We need you to find the missing commercial samples"
"the goods are unique to the mission"
"Search signal sources in the system to find them"
"Take the good here when done"
"Payment given upon delivery"
"good luck"
"reward, blah blah"
"Destination, system blah blah blah"
"cargo, blah blah"
"Quantity: 0/1"
"time left: blah blah"
"Mission giver: blah blah blah"
The last update to the mission gave me a coordinate on the system map that was apparently in or on a planet in the system (unless I am supposed to fly to the planet and then look at nearby signal sources?)
COMMERCIAL SAMPLES SALVAGE OPERATION
* We need you to find the missing Commercial Samples.
* This cargo is unique to the mission and cannot be replaced if lost.
* Search signal sources in the LHS3479 system to find them.
* Take the items to Trevithick Dock in the LHS3447 system.
* You will receive your reward upon delivery.
Destination: System LHS3479
Additional: Cargo Commercial Samples (Unique)
Quantity: 0/1
Time Left: 1D 10H 31Min
So I'm in LHS3479. I have been flying all over the system, scanning every signal source I can find. I scanned the nav beacon already, no change to my mission. On the system map, there is a blue marker on one of the suns. I have been flying as close to that sun as I can without burning up for about 30 minutes now. Scanning everything I can find. No change in anything.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
Update: Super, super frustrating. Another night of flying around in LHS3479, finding nothing. I did get a "mission critical message," and another mission to go kill a Pirate at one of the planets. I FSD'd to the planet, nothing. Then a blue "Mission" message appeared near a salvage site. Great. I scooped up some salvage, and then I got a new mission in my mission window, telling me to bring the salvage back to the "designated point." I don't know where that is. I also see that this salvage is not part of my original mission, since that mission still says I have 0/1 Quantity of the commercial samples that I need.
So, I THINK I'm part of the way through three missions, even though I'm really only trying to do one.
The mission will expire tonight, incomplete.
Can anyone literally walk me through what I should be doing here??
If your target is at a planet you must fly to the planet, then fly around the planet a while
(up to 5 min).
Fly complete around the planet and the poles and it should appear after some time.
If not, and you are sure the planet is the right one, leave the system and come back and repeat the orbiting.
So you dont neet to fly all over the system to scan all signal sources.
This only works when the COVAS says "mission object detected"
- Next to impossible to pick up items in a gravity well without limpets.
- The higher paying ones can drop an entire wing of pirates on you. Seen up to a wing of 6.
make sure you are exactly behind the items falling to the planet,
so the items are between you and the planet.
In this case they only move away from you,but in a straight line, not in an other direction
