How do you launch SRV for planetary travel

Either the game is trolling me, or I'm officially an idiot. I just picked up the Horizons dlc and fired up the tutorial mission for SRV deployment and travel. I'm at the point where it says "press 3 to access the role switch panel" then "select srv bay - scarab then deploy to switch to scarab". I've been pressing 3 all day and I've yet to see a magical role switch panel. I litterally pressed every button on the keyboard and looked at every possible panel in the cockpit... nothing. Right now the only button I see worth pressing is the self destruct button....

So what am I doing wrong, how do I deploy an srv; I would ask that you be specific and absolutely detailed as much as possible

Check your keybindings, it may have unset it.

ui focus button + whatever you have set to backwards thruster i believe. makes you look downward, then you select srv and go to deploy. or 3 button tho i personally changed that

Just did some additional research, and retried both the tutorial and challenge mission. I must be having a dspGaming moment here, because both of them are bugged. I followed the given instructions, and the UI does focus on the center like it's supposed to, but the options simply don't appear. And when I do the challenge mission, the srv controls are completely unresponsive. And I know I'm using default controls, so I know no keys are unbound. I guess I'll have to try this the hard way, blind in the actual game. Now where's that self destruct button...

Gotta ask, are you sure you launched the Horizons version of the game? When you go to launch, you have options for Elite or Elite Horizons, 64-bit, etc.

Shift and S is the default keys to focus the center panel.Which is where you launch the SRV from using the spacebar after selecting the SRV in the menu.The WASD keys for driving will need to be bound (if you want to use them ones).They are not set that way as default.

Not seeing the panel to select it in the tutorial training mission. Yes it's bound properly.

It's generally recommended to not bump (necro) old threads :3

By default the panel also can be accessed by free-look, it more or less sits in your crotch (between your legs) so simply look forward and then down in the cockpit and it appears.

If not then it's a sign that you do not have Horizons which would be a bug so in that case you'd have to fill out a support ticket.

Thread summed up the same issue I had... I do have Horizons and just bought it yesterday, launched it through steam -with- Horizons, which brought up the Horizons launcher, and was able to start the game from there. Guess I'll fill out a ticket or refund the expansion, pretty disappointing to have something this rudimentary not work.

Just checking (as I am experiencing this as well, and clicked Options, Verify Game Files... I expect Horizons has an update that hasn't come through yet... (maybe needs to update through steam and/or as well?)

As I said, it's bound. I know where this is in the keybindings, the panel just doesn't show. For what it's worth, even the customer service rep who answered my ticket doesn't know what's going on but stated that some sort of shift in the way Frontier is handling their sales of the game is also making transitions of accounts to expansion content not work correctly.

At the same time, they weren't even sure of the exact cause yet. Verifying game files did not work for me.

To clarify further, pressing the keybinding does focus the camera down below the central holographic projection of the cockpit as it is supposed to, but the panel simply does not appear. And yet I can do SRV training. The game is not well designed in that area.
