Why did I end up at the Pillar of Fortitude for a measly bounty fine?
So I scanned a pirate ship that had a bounty on it and lit it up nice and proper. Then I incurred a bounty on MY head for 800 credits, WTF?! Then I go to the faction controlled station as anonymous and pay the fine, no problem. Except I get sent to the Pillar of Fortitude light years away. Is this the pokey now? So anytime I get a bounty on my head I get shipped to space prison and have to get bailed out now? Say it isn't true!

For the umpteenth time, fines and bounties are different things! Stop conflating them. A fine is a parking ticket that you can just pay off and that has no consequences. A bounty is something that people want you dead or in jail for. That's why Interstellar Factors is a thing, they will handle it for a small 25% premium.

Okay, okay, Shadowdancer. My bad. And thanks for the info, btw. One other thing, though. If I'd've gone to the interstellar Factors, would I still have landed in the pokey?

The answer to your question is no. However that doesn't guarantee you won't be scanned by a bounty hunter equipped with a warrant scanner.

Interstellar Factors in Anarchy systems is where you go with a "hot" ship to be sure. ;)

IF services are also in all (I believe) low-security systems too, not just anarchy. Also, you'd never get a bounty for attacking a ship that's wanted, even prematurely before you've scanned like how it used to be. It had to be something else, like accidentally hitting a neutral ship. 800 sounds like the basic Assault bounty.

fines are tickets. bounties are warrants. if you go to pay off your fine u can do that anywhere. pay off bounties in another system. generally u wont get interdicted for a bounty in a different system and ALL of the star ports have a no fire zone within the vicinity of the station. so system security and other npcs shouldnt open fire on you. and no paying off your bounty in another system wont get you locked up just make sure you DONT have notoriety

Roger dat. Thanks for the info. I'll be more careful next time. I'm not much of a bad guy so I don't end up with bounties or fines much. I did, however, notice that the Pillar of Fortitude had a very carrier vibe to it. That was kinda cool. I think based on the carrier promo/trailer, launching from a carrier looks to be very similar. Too bad really, I was hoping for something a little more like BS Galactica, where the fighters shoot out of the slot. I guess we get that with our onboards though.
