Can't complete the ******* tutorials!

During the advanced combat tutorial the enemy ships are returning fire even whilst I am on their tales by flipping round and traveling backwards. This seems a little bit too much when I supposed to be learning the controls.

If this is just the tutorial is the rest of the game as difficult?

How do I release chaff to finish the tutorial? Is it a secret? What the are weapon groups? Why is none of this in the actual tutorial?

Not laughing at you, just remembering how it felt.

The NPC's are using flight assist off.
You can either bind chaff to a key or put them in a fire group which I don't recommend.

I got Flight assust OFF/ON on key Z and I use it very often. It is really good. You can fly away from somebody and keep shooting him.

LOL! What the heck is flight assist?

I'm spamming c but I'm not seeing anything happening. I cant even find the binding in the menus so I assume/hope its on default.

I can see that there is "chaff" written on the left hand side of the hud but don't know if is even selected.

This is the last tut I have to complete and it's driving me nuts.

I have more than 600 hours and never ever completed that tutorial. Doing fine in the game despite that.

Try to complete it if you feel the need, but if you know how to take off/land, how to engage the enemy, how to fly around in supercruise, you are good to go, the rest will come as you meet new challenges.

Also watch tube tutorials for new players, they are a big help to easy the initial confusion.

That's the advanced tutorial. Don't worry about it for now because as the name suggests, it's teaching advanced stuff. Just get in game, you'll do fine without learning that stuff yet.

I only just started playing and haven't needed any of the advanced combat tactics yet. Once you've got more used to the basics (by playing in game) then go back to it. That's what I plan to do.

A few things that are useful during combat: Put 4 pips into SYS when you are taking fire. Put 4 pips into ENG when you are turning. Put throttle at 50% when you are turning. Roll and then pitch to turn, Yaw is painfully slow.

Yeah..there is little to no guideance from the game as to what I am supposed to do, or even what I can do, or even a suggestion of what a basic first step should be.

My guess as to how it would play out would be I would fly around looking for something to do, run out of fuel or get into some sort of situation that would penalise me for not knowing some critical piece of information I have not been told about.

Seems like a beast that is designed to suck time and effort from the player. Life is too short for that.

Dying has no consequence with the ship you start with, so fly around and try things.

+1. I didn't complete that tutorial when I first started playing... Tried it once, died. Jumped into open play. Went back to the tutorial a few months later and breezed through it xD

Yeah... The whole game is kinda like this in that nothing is taught to you, you're expected to figure it all out on your own.

But don't despair, there are plenty of friendly people willing to help newbs.

lolz, if you can complete all the tutorials, you would be good enough to be labled "elite". the combat part is more of a training simulator. not a tutorial. i was playing for more than 400 hrs before I could complete tham all :)

Wow! It took me almost 180 hours of playing to figure that out. Good for you. Go in peace, and stay there. :)
