Get the commercial version of the Rift the CV1... otherwise you buy a hardware that will not work power at some point in time sooner rathe rthan later...
1060 will work
The problem with glasses is that you can't use them for very long, especially with headphones - the squeeze on your head becomes almost painful after a while. That's why I don't use them often, even that the experience is much better. Another problem with 3D side by side was a dropped resolution, as it was running in half-SBS. The text looked prismy-glassy.
I would go with a full VR set. Actually, I'm going to get one today. :)
I've seen incredible projectors at my workplace, but I can still *see* the pixels and text is never quite good enough. I never feel like it's as sharp as it could be. The huge price tag isn't worth it for gaming.
and yeah I am still in total AWE every time I enter my spaceship in VR its the best thing that has hit gaming since 35 years of hardcore gamign for me! Nothing will ever come close! Its my childhood dream come true I own my own space ship!
I never in my wilsdest dreams expected to be able to play like this within my lifetime :) best thing EVER!! And I woudl pay 10K for just the HMD if I had to - its that much fun!
I have a 21:9 monitor 34" with high resolution, I cant go back to that.... its just total garbage to play looking onto a flat screen vs being in your ship and fully immersed into a world!
A display with a 1440p resolution, about halfway between standard 1080p and 4K. They're perfect for gaming because they have a much higher refresh rate and much lower system requirements than 4K, but still look fantastic at short viewing distances and small screen sizes. Mine also has G-Sync, which pretty much kills screen tearing.
I will eventually get a 4K display, but I'm going to wait another few years first. The 1080 isn't quite powerful enough to run every game in 4K, there are a few that really struggle and DX12 won't help. I can't get a Titan because they don't sell Titans here, and if they did taxes would push the price past $3000.
Its a gorgous monitor and I like th easpect ration much better than any 4K can offer! But is a joke compared to Elite in VR...
Since the second I logged in with the rift a few month ago i am blown away! I couldnt care less about the next generation! its so good, I can die a happy man now! I will play this until I die.. if they ever make better ones sure I buy them but I am not in a hurry its THAT AWESOME!
You are missing out buddy! You got a 1080 its not thousands to ge the hmd... but whatever floats your boat...
And besides, I fly a G3 Dirty Drive Vulture - I'd probably just end up feeling really dizzy and refunding the headset.
