Thank you for the reply. I know Frontier would never hijack a Steam account, but all sorts of scenarios enter my head. I'll have an entire bucket of sunglasses in my Anaconda, just like Albert Wesker has in his room.

This is the direct link to the original fdevs store: https://www.frontierstore.net/ that is provided when you start the launcher directly from the install folder, without steam overlay.
This is the carjacked link from steam's fdev store: https://steam.elitedangerous.com/en that you get when you start the launcher from steam, directly.
I'd recommend buying from the original FDEV store in order to fully support fdev and the game development instead of giving %ages to steam for nothing.
And ofc, you'll need your account name and password from the game's launcher to log in, not your steam log in.
