Refinery and Mining, Vent button issues.
Hey, not regarding anything about efficency or anything, but i have the basic refinery installed and mining laser. I go mining, scoop up some ore and go over to my Refinery interface. I see the two minerals listed that was in the ore i scooped, one has been chosen automatically and is marked as refined. the other lists its percentage. The mineral chosen is now in a bin, the only bin my cheap refinery has, at about 16%.
So i understand that i need to get more chunks of ore that contain that mineral to bring it up to 100% before i get that mineral placed in my cargo.
However the whole refinery interface seems to not work, i can't vent the remaining "crud" that contains the second mineral i don't want to focus on, so i can scoop another chunk of ore.
There is the "vent " button underneath mineral breakdown section, but it doesn't seem to work.

The only button that vents anything is the vent button for whats been placed in the bin. But thats the mineral i've chosen to refine. So i'm stuck.
I'm pressing the A button on the other vent button to vent the unwanted minerals into space to free up my refinery bin.
While pressing A on that button i can go ahead and press another button in combo, and it will perform that combo, such as retract weapons.
I'm wondering if there is a button i've not got mapped that would activate the vent button or if its broken alltogether.
I mean i will get a better refinery at some stage, this is just to aplease my mining itch for now.
Any halp!

I was going to report than in the official forums yesterday, but it was already reported from a few hours earlier. I started mining recently, so I'm not 100% sure about how the interface should exactly work when it works correctly (should pressing one material in the hopper drop only that material or do nothing? Or is the only way to drop materials from the hopper pressing the vent button, which I assume drops both?).

From what I have seen, venting the hopper materials only works if you press the first material and that material is not on a refined state. Everything else I have tried fails.

Possibly, but since it auto refines the top material whenever i scoop some ore, i can't test that as the top one is always the refined one. The oviously solution is to grab a better refinery with more than one bin, but i just wanna try some mining stuff and do the odd mission that requires some minerial.

It doesn't affect me a lot because I directly bought a refinery with five bins, so there's usually at least one material being refined that makes me go "yup, scooping biowaste would be more profitable" and I would rather jettison the refined 1ton unit of that than let it take space in my ship, but it bothers anyway.

it would be nice if we had programable refinerys which would auto vent or refine a selected group of ore

How is mining these days? Any different than it was 2 years ago in terms of profitability and fun?

i find mineing in a haz res with my engineered cutter, prismatic shields, longrange multi's and beams, a good time for sure. the pirates never come close enough to do any damage to me and i leave my turrets on fire at will. ignore attackers and continue mineing... untill the wing of 3 fdl's show up, then 4 pips to shields and continue mineing lol
