Discovered: Thargoids don't attack you if your ship is unarmed.

I discovered this accidently. As I dropped into a non-Human contact signal source and met a Thargoid ship. They started flying towards me at an impossible acceleration, scanned me, then left me alone. Since everyone else has reported them as hostile, my ship being disarmed is the only reason the Thargoids weren't hostile for my encounters with them.

I got 2 small beam turrets on my conda and i didnt get attacked by the Thargoids when i dropped into non-human signal source.

They may not have considered those weapons a significant enough threat to warrant a lethal response. Or I may be wrong, it could have something to do whether or not you approach the Thargoid yourself or let it approach you.

In other words, it could have just been a random preset encounter and not having weapons may have had nothing to do with it.

I have encountered Thargoids who did not attack and I was heavily armed to the teeth, I even deployed hard points to which they reacted by launching their drones, but they did not attack me.

From looking at videos it seems they only attack you if you attempt to take cargo they are interested in or you get to close.

Or, we could be dealing with multiple factions. I retracted my hardpoints and re-entered super cruise in my encounter with not even a peep out of the Thargoids.

Ah, right, so you do have to get close to trigger hostilities. Nothing to do with weapons.

I flew straight at it and targeted it, though it does fly towards you immediately too. One of the instances the thargoid ship deployed its weapons, those swarm of bots flying around them, and turned red, but it didnt attack me. In a different SS it just seemed to ignore me after its initial scan.

LOL if they attacked me.

One thing though: they aren't always hostile.
And if you rush away you can observe what they do without danger.

Seems that way. Have a look at my last post again I edited it with my loadout. I was pretty heavily armed. If they don't consider me a threat then you must have to have blackhole creating super nukes attached to your ship for them to see you as a threat lol

They did give you the glow of doom though, so their feelings must've been hurt in some way.

I wonder if the Thargoids are aware that each human is an individual, like a Queen. I wonder if that is why they treat each CMDR differently, knowing that some humans are naturally aggressive and others aren't.

Then it's weird that they didn't attack me. I have plans to assassinate the Emperor and take her throne.

They also get enraged if you drop any guardian relics, they shoot them
