Discovered: Thargoids don't attack you if your ship is unarmed.

I discovered this accidently. As I dropped into a non-Human contact signal source and met a Thargoid ship. They started flying towards me at an impossible acceleration, scanned me, then left me alone. Since everyone else has reported them as hostile, my ship being disarmed is the only reason the Thargoids weren't hostile for my encounters with them.

Then that Thargoid would face a court martial for killing innocent civilians.

First one attacked me even very fast.

I've found like 5 of them, got interdicted like 3 times.
The others weren't hostile, not like that.

I worry about Maia though.

I am pretty sure it's going to be sieged.

Try again but get closer to them, twice, so they turn red!
I did it in unarmed aspx.
But what i discovered is that honking with advanced discovery scanner kills those little ships!

Yeah those little things started crash into each other and destroying itself.
Thanks to that i managed to stay alive in unarmed ship.

I dropped a Thargoid Link, it left me alone, I dropped a Thargoid Sensor, it kept chasing me. also, fun fact: these ships have a top speed of about 500, unless you can go faster than that, you ain't gonna get away from it

Was always able to get away from an enemy ship when I started losing a fight. Looks like these Thargoids will be far more dangerous than that.

From what I saw when it started attacking me these things are stupidly manuverable, so be sure to watch your back when engaging one

I know what you mean. On first encounter, he just turned towards me in the blink of an eye like "WHODAT"

Actually, you can be armed. As long as you don't attack them, get too close, carry Thargoid stuff, or guardian stuff, they'll leave you alone. Though I also heard they may attack you if you pick up the stuff they are cargo scooping themselves with their tractor beam.

I encountered an Interceptor in my unarmed DBX and it's weapons went hot and I had to leg it so they most certainly WILL attack an unarmed ship, intend to try silent running to see if that helps me stay unnoticed.

Just encountered an interceptor aswel. I am armed with Anti-Thargoid weapons and loaded with Meta-Alloy's in my cargo hold.

However i backed up as soon as my thrusters restarted. It retracted it's weapons, turned around and left.

I wonder if the thargoids attacking is at all attached to your combat status. I mean, if your elite in combat, they could very well view you as a higher threat, then someone sitting with a simple rank or two in combat, but high rank in trade. They do scan you, so maybe they check out status and decide, yep, probably should nuke this guy before he gets me. Probably not, but it might explain why heavily armed folk are not getting shot up, while others without weapons are.

They are not hostile to anyone unless they are too close (within about 300m), shoot first, or have a specific type of cargo.
