PC vs PS4
Hay guys, I've had my eye on Elite for a while now. Not too sure if I want to get it on PC or PS4. Anyone have experiences playing both versions? I have a PS4 Pro and I've heard it helps with framerate issues and the like on console. Is there any difference between the PC and Console versions outside of graphic fidelity?

I'm leaning towards PS4 at the moment simply because I'm not sure how my PC will run the game, it's getting old.

Depends on how you want to play i would say. I'd get it for the PS4 if i wanted to sit in bed playing on the larger screen. (because the PS4 is in the bedroom). But i prefer PC for most games.

Graphics wise the PS4 is nice from what i hear, but at the moment it is suffering some graphical glitches, but no surprises there, its relatively new on the PS4.

And keep in mind that players will not see each other, even that they will share the same galaxy and influence it. And, as there should be many more of PC players... make your decision wisely.

Most players are on PC...

I am fortunate to have it on both platforms, with my PC capable of playing the game at its highest graphical configuration.

In terms of gameplay, there is nothing - for me at least - to separate them. I don't have VR or use voice attack however so my judgement may differ if I started to use those.

Graphically, although it doesn't compare to a PC on its highest settings, I think it holds up well enough, and I can spend just as much time on the PS4 version than on the PC version. I don't have the pro either

PC. Plenty of apps utilizing the game's API. ED Market Connector keeps track of just about every aspect of your profile and can update it all on the fly to Inara. ED Engineer is dead useful for streamlining material and data inventory and prioritizing mods; also syncs to your CMDR. Then there's VR and Voice Attack. Top it all off with faster load times and more active CMDRs.

PC definitely. What are your specs?

There's no cross platform support for accounts or anything like that?

PC definitely. What are your specs?

i4-4590, 8gb DD3 Ram, 760GTX OC'd and I had a SSD I can install on.

No cross platform support unfortunately.
Specs wise, i think your CPU would be alright, but you might wanna think about upgrading your GPU. In space you'll probably be fine, might have to lower the visuals a little, but if you plan on getting horizons you'll find the frames on planets will be quite bad. I'm no expert here btw, i'm just comparing your hardware to mine on passmark.
You could always buy it while it's on sale, then if you're not happy with performance, refund it.

Yeah that's why I was looking at getting on PS4, will be a little while before I upgrade the PC and my GPU is a bit of a bottleneck

You might be surprised, Elite is well opimised. I was running the game on a GTX 760 at almost max settings (had to turn some of the terrain settings down a bit for Horizons stuff to keep a decent framerate on planets). As long as you're playing 1920x1080 you'll be fine with that card for now. Then when you eventually upgrade your graphics card, you'll be able to turn all the bells and whistles on :)

Yah, I run everything in 1920x1060, suprised how long this card has lasted, games like BF1 run silky smooth when I set everything to medium.

I use a gtx titan im not sure how old it is but i think its alittle better than yours. I can run all on ultra. I think you can run all on high. Elite doenst need high sepcs. I do use 32gb ram and a i7 tho.

I've had ED running on a laptop with Intel integrated graphics, albeit at lowest settings. Still works though

On PC you can install some mods like change the HUD color. There's no in-game option to do that, so custom HUD colors are not possible on consoles until Frontier adds that.

Console versions have Achievements, PC doesn't. You can only play directly with other people on the same platform.

PC. It's just much more versatile. VR? Check. Dozens of controllers? Check. You can play in bed if your setup allows for it. PS4 is kinda smaller on that. As far as I remember there are not that much of a choice on controler side and elite wins greatly from right-to-you combinations of controls. (Yes, some prefer playing on KB&M, and some use hotas, gamepads or other crazy contraptions).
