Also, i am trying atm, so i am in supercruise almost stopped, and it ends in different routes while the fuel cargo is the same (i guess it does not change so much in few seconds).
Also i sometimes ends in a shorter route, sometimes longer, not always longer, but always longer after relogging.
In my opinion, it's since the change done to route plotting up to 20K Ly, i guess their algorithm is not perfect, that's why it was so short before, and now it's up to 20K Ly but with flaws in AI poltting.
Edit : floating point unit errors?
I think the route is not saved, only the destination and recalculated. I guess the algorythm is fuzzy enough that it doesn't always turn out the same way. they said they changed something so it would plot faster. I guess it's that old saying: faster, cheaper, better. pick 2.
I find the neutron boost plotting to be very iffy. In some cases it's actually MORE jumps than without it because the computer tries to plot you through neutron stars.
It's very disappointing when you have explored 30 jumps to relog and think you've simply not played the last session lol. That's not true (because i have 30 jumps exploration datas), but it kills motivation.
I bet they're going to do some more tweaking on the plotting when the do the exploration overhaul....hopefully they won't have run everyone off by messing with the Thargoid stuff by then and there will still be players in the game.
to where???

Indeed it's turning, also rogue planets and stars ejected at high speed by black holes, and so on, but i think we can not notice it at our time scale. At the distance of Pluto, orbital period is about 250 years at only about 15000Ls, so i guess the orbital period of a system around Sagittarius A* can be billions of years.
So i doubt it has a great impact over 2 or 3 days, also i think that E:D doesn't even take this in account. planets and stars are orbiting inside their own systems, but not in the galaxy in Elite, i guess just because the galaxy map would look quite the same in 100years and players wouldn't even notice any change.
But that's not stupid, i thought about it too, before realizing it could not be the answer. Just because in few minutes, i get longer or shorter routes, if that was the explaination, it should only go in a single way, shorter OR longer.
Notice that in a few billion years, Andromeda's galaxy will hit and merge with our Milky way, but we would probably don't notice anything on Earth (if it still ever exists), except that the sky doesn't look the same as now.
