Motion sickness and being new to the game
So I just got this game and I am not playing with VR but I started feeling motion sick.
Does anyone else experience this?
I really want to play this game, but I don't really want to get sick every time I try to play the game.

Any question you can think of, someone else has probably already asked. You're just not that special.

i never really go tmotion sickness cause ithink i lean into the turns like when you watch the fligth videos at the airport and the plane banks and you lean with it XD now if i got the occulus or VR not sure. now in starcitizen if dont remove the blur effect they have then yea and or in ship and how sensitive the flight is like hard right on stick and your spinning in one spot like cartoon spin XD

In which part did I mentioned I was special?
Is it my fault if I feel sick after playing the game?
No,just like it isn't your fault for being born with the gender you did.

I used the HTC Vive before and got sick after ten minutes.
I do try to turn my head but there's something with the speed of the spaceship and the outside that makes me feel really sick.

Are you acheiving 90 frames per second? (CTRL + F on keyboard)

I also turn off ASW with the Oculus Debug Tool, (or CTRL Numpad 1).
"C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusDebugTool.exe"

Constant frame drops were causing me motion sickness in the SRV, had to turn down HMD pixel density to 1.25 which fixed it for me, keeps my framerate up.

Dont use super sampling unless you have a high end rig, its an FPS killer.

I use VR High settings with a GTX1080Ti, what GPU do you have and what grphical preset in Elite?

Try ED Profiler for changing settings, pretty useful although check settings ingame for field of view which dont always set correctly.

Aparrently Ginger can help with this. Lool for sweets and foodstuffs containing it.

Motion sickness in VR and out is very common.

Its simply affects some more than others.

Do other games affect you? I have a friend who can't play any FPS game due to this problem, but his is an extreme case.

The only time I even come close to motion sickness in Elite is in VR, whilst in the SRV driving around way too fast on a moon/planet that is very rough/bumpy.

Same here fela, SRV bouncing around and more importantly going backwards, buggers with the inner ear fluid hence sickness.

Doom 3 VR did the same to me, but other than that I dont really suffer motion sickness.

It can happen if one sits too close to the monitor also, just a thought. This used to happen to me a bit. Hope this & what's above is helpful. Flay safe & have fun Cmdr. o7

I've only ever experienced motion sickness twice (in life).
Both times from playing computer games. First was Exanima, second was ED.
Will say that it passed over time, it just took some orientation.
I found in both games, the more I grasped the controls and the less jerky my own movements became, the less I felt it.

Go to graphics options and enable the "reduce camera shake" option.

Sit in a well lit and ventilated room at a decent distance form the screen.

I never really had motion sickness with other games, only with actually doing certain things in life like being on a boat.

I did notice that my body temperature somehow made it worse but I do have the "reduce camera shake" option off.
I was playing at night with everything turned off apart from the actual screen, but I will try your suggestion..
Thank you.

I've noticed that some options to reduce nausea effects where turned off, that might be why.
My FPS isn't locked at 60 but doesn't go any lower than 57. So it's generally between 57-60.

I just changed some settings and it seems to be more bearable but I still have to take it slow.
