Any question you can think of, someone else has probably already asked. You're just not that special.
In this case:

Is it my fault if I feel sick after playing the game?
No,just like it isn't your fault for being born with the gender you did.
I do try to turn my head but there's something with the speed of the spaceship and the outside that makes me feel really sick.
I also turn off ASW with the Oculus Debug Tool, (or CTRL Numpad 1).
"C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusDebugTool.exe"
Constant frame drops were causing me motion sickness in the SRV, had to turn down HMD pixel density to 1.25 which fixed it for me, keeps my framerate up.
Dont use super sampling unless you have a high end rig, its an FPS killer.
I use VR High settings with a GTX1080Ti, what GPU do you have and what grphical preset in Elite?
Try ED Profiler for changing settings, pretty useful although check settings ingame for field of view which dont always set correctly.

Motion sickness in VR and out is very common.
Its simply affects some more than others.
The only time I even come close to motion sickness in Elite is in VR, whilst in the SRV driving around way too fast on a moon/planet that is very rough/bumpy.
Doom 3 VR did the same to me, but other than that I dont really suffer motion sickness.
Both times from playing computer games. First was Exanima, second was ED.
Will say that it passed over time, it just took some orientation.
I found in both games, the more I grasped the controls and the less jerky my own movements became, the less I felt it.
Sit in a well lit and ventilated room at a decent distance form the screen.
I was playing at night with everything turned off apart from the actual screen, but I will try your suggestion..
Thank you.
My FPS isn't locked at 60 but doesn't go any lower than 57. So it's generally between 57-60.
I just changed some settings and it seems to be more bearable but I still have to take it slow.
