internal security data delivery
There I was in the middle of killing some wanted guys for the community goal, and I get an incomming message. It's a mission to meet with a guy to get some data, and then deliver that data to another station.
Fine I thought, so I take it. Off to the system when I'm supposed to meet the guy, and pop into the nav beacon. He's there and saying some blurb about "Good thing I found you. I've got data for you". Then nothing.
I can't find him by checking up the ships. I can't find him in the contact list. He doesn't say anything else after that, but he does say some similar blurb if I jump out of, and into the nav beacon again.

The mission isn't updated. I don't get the data.

I have no idea what to do now.
Anyone knows?

They usually request that you drop down meaning drop to local. Once you do he will be there.

I honestly don't know what that means in this context.

I'm not in supercruise. I'm at the nav beacon, with all the ships that drop in there before they move on.
If that doesn't mean local, then I don't know what it would mean.

Looks like you went to the wrong place. When the guy hails you in SC you should watch for him to drop down into regular flight. He will leave behind a low wake signal you can lock onto and follow him down.

The mission might now be borked. You can try returning to SC and seeing if he reappears.

I'm sure the mission is ok but it won't work correctly unless you leave and come back to the system. Sometimes going back to SC and waiting fixes it and the guy shows up. But for sure jumping out and jumping back in will fix it. The guy will hail you again and ask you to drop down. Target him and he will turn into a low wake meaning he dropped to local. Target the wake and drop down when in range. The rest will be simple.

The problem is he hasn't hailed me in supercruise. He has only hailed me when I'm not in supercruise.
It's only when I've already dropped out of supercruise I get a a hail from him. It usually takes a few moments, and looking at the comms at the time, I see his hail a few seconds after I've entered the nav beacon.
This has happened over several logs now, and rentries to the system (I went back to chase more bounties for the community goal and came back a bit later, still the same thing).

Bizarre. Can you record that happening?

No, I got it working now.
I *think* it might be a buffer issue or something. I kept in SC this time, just flying around. Took about 10 minutes before he poked me. I never stayed in SC for that long in that system previously.
Before I just popped into the Nav Beacon directly, and then flew to the closest station (<100ls) so I was never in supercruise for specially long.
When I stayed in supercruise and just flying around aimlessly, it worked.
yeah I am having the same issue, except the "low wake" I am supposed to follow is literally next to the sun. Like I am burning up trying to reach it. If I overshoot the marker just by a hair, I crash into the sun, but then if I undershoot it, I am overheating by the time I got there. I finally got the mission, but god if it wasn't a mission for 700,000 credits I would have just gone "nope!"
