They paid well.
I earn here more money as in Bounty Hunting.
That doesn't mean, however, that you can't, or shouldn't, improve your natural game progression in terms of credits, ranks, and experience. Just be smart when choosing your goals. At the stage you're in, the Anaconda is not a smart goal. Your goals should be activities you want to do, and ships should only be tools for the purpose of those activities.
If you don't know what activities you want to engage in, just try. Try exploration, try trading, try bounties, hell, even try just fooling around doing nothing...eventually you'll find something you enjoy doing.
(With that said, i agree with Quintus here. Passenger missions are quite time efficient (but maybe avoid long-rnage sightseeing missions for now). But DO NOT choose activities based exclusively on how many credits or rank you get: make sure you dedicate most of the time to activities you like. That should be your #1 priority, not a ship.)
And when you've found an activity you enjoy, buy the CHEAPEST ship that allows you to do that well. Why the cheapest? well, why are you asking for fast ways to get credits? because earning credits is boring and prevents you from doing something else you enjoy. A cheaper ship not only will reduce your grind way more than any credit earnin scheme possibly could, but because the rebuys are cheaper as well, you won't have to be constantly afraid of losing your ship in an accident or in the hands of a griefer.
-Want to explore? get a DiamondBack Explorer or an ASP Explorer.
-Wanna do trading? ASP Explorer and Type 6 will serve you well.
-Bounty hunting? Vulture. 'Nuff said.
(Edit: as you may have noticed, a Vulture/ASPX combo pretty much covers any activity in the game)
Then, some day, you'll be an experienced pilot, swimming in credits, with all the highest ranks. And THEN, if you still want that Anaconda, that'll be the time for you to go and get one.
The alternative? grind for an Anaconda now, have the most boring time in your life to get there, then have it just blown up before your eyes, with no rebuys, and you'll get so angry that you'll uninstall the game and never play it again. It happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Is that really what you want?
Enjoy the game, the credits will come with time.
Start with small transport missions, then when you unlock them stack some sight-seeing tours for HUGE lump sums when you return home.
As a last note, try to find a tourist station to use as your home base. They offer the most passenger missions with the best payouts.
Mostly Harmless Anacondas & More! Having had one, they're not that awesome until you get like 600mil to spend on them. So Quince away. 60mil an hour.
Play the hell out of the game and only do what you like doing.
*shrugs* He's not wrong.
D rate everything else....
Honestly, rather than just desperately grind for it as fast as possible, ask yourself what you want it for.
If you like bounty hunting, there are plenty of damn good ships at lower ranks that you can use meanwhile.
If you like exploring or transporting people there are ships for that too.
And if you want a ship that can trade and defend itself, the Keelback's not terrible if you're willing to make some major compromises on the design. I've got one with about 52 cargo space and a Taipan fighter that holds its own against most pirates I run into and can make a decent profit trading Rare Goods in bulk.
Then if you also feel confident enough, you can do massacre missions in conflict zones. Those give a ton of money as well but it's not for the weak and requires some good situational awareness and ability to run if things get too hot for you.
Suprisingly, I haven't done a conflict zone in awhile but that's because I just got some friends into playing this game and they aren't quite at the level to do conflict zones yet. Thoug one is now and has a Fer-De-Lance decently outfitted (though not engineered yet).
As for the Anaconda itself, it's a great ship but I suggest that you don't bring it out to combat until you get it decently outfitted first and to do that you'll need some extra cash for those modules (pretty pricey for most of them) and enough for 2 to 3 rebuys. I think a fully maxed out Anaconda can cost like 700 to 900 million off the top of my head depending on what you buy and what you want your anaconda for.
