SRV stuck, relog only option?
Hi folks,

Well, finally managed to get the SRV wedged. NO combination of controls makes it move at all - yes, this includes full vertical thrusters, full steering, forward, back, roll, etc, etc, and all combinations thereof.

A little online research seems to indicate the only option is to log out, restart the game without horizons, then relog and start again with horizons, causing me to return to my ship in orbit. (This would be a huge pain, and I'm a little pissed about it, but see no other alternative)...

...anything else I might try?

If you can't move at all then pretty much your only option is the relog as you described.

I've had to do it before and can attest it works.

But yes it's annoying

(sigh!) OK, thanks for the quick response. Trying to get some cargo racks in some REALLY bad terrain, and it took me a long time to get there, so I was hoping to avoid. (especially since I imagine I'm about to do the same damn thing - I'm really bad at driving the SRV!)

Ah, well - thanks again!

I gotta confess, here, as I do spend a lot of time talking up how much I love this game.

...I hate planetary landings, and that stupid SRV. Really wish I had another option for engineering mats.

Not complaining a lot - still love the game, but that's one aspect that hasn't grown on me.

Yes, I kinda enjoy the SRV in bits, but I bought elite to fly space ships, not drive so I would prefer to be spending my time doing the flying lol

It would be nice if at some point at least common mats could be bought....that Iron can't be just boggles my mind!

Had a perfect setup - had a better landing, had figured out paths to the cargo racks, had already survived one close call avoiding getting stuck by quick thruster app.... things were awesome, until flailing for the cargo scoop button (I had accidentally closed it) I heard a strange sound. Didn't see a change in my status, so shrugged it off.

Turned around to find my ship gone. Had bumped the 'dismiss ship' button while struggling with the cargo scoop.... (note to self: rebind that key further away from stuff you use!!!)

edit: resummonned the ship, which of course couldn't land where I had it. Got to it, got in, flew it back, got it back down, though in a spot not as good as my last one. Got back in the SRV, got back to work.

....had forgotten to remap the dismiss ship key. Promptly accidently dismissed the ship again.

edit2: OK, what the hell? Already had discovered that you can't refuel the SRV without synthesis, even at the ship - not happy, but accepted. I had refueled the SRV prior to my last dismiss adventure (and, yes, I've now rebound the key, thank you for asking!) so it was parked with 95% fuel.

I go to relaunch - it's at 45% fuel. Dammit, where's the leak in the SRV tank?? Or does boarding the ship cost 50% fuel?

Sometime SRVs have a bug that show a wrong fuel level. I didn't have it, myself, but I remember reading that if you sell and re-buy the SRV module, it should be fixed.

Your SRV also refuels at stations. But doing it with a synthesis is very easy - both phosphor and sulphur are literally 1 mineral away.

Can't you self-destruct a SRV?
Jeffreyac Sep 3, 2017 @ 10:06pm
Yep, just didn't want to self destruct. The relog thing worked.

And the fuel level evidently was (or, is, I guess) a bug. Noticed when I went back, in the ship, the SRV had a much lower fuel state, but once I got in it and deployed, it showed what I was expecting.

You could have a friend gently bump you.

lol - now, that I didn't think of, even though I read a great article about how the Fuel Rats have to occasionally flip ships over to do rescues on-planet! As it was, I was alone, but that's an excellent thought!

It works Most of the time. Did it with 2 or 3 peeps

If you relog it fixes it b/c it moves the POI you are stuck on. I had my SRV stuck sticking straight up in the sky crammed between two metal poles in some wreckage. Yeah don't ask it was stupid but I did it.
