I have no experience regarding mining, so no idea of the payouts but the Python sure has the internals to make mining work efficently.
The Type-9 can to mining though. Just buy the necessary equipment, buy a fighter hanger so you can defend against pirates, fill up on cargo space, and go have some fun. Just watch out for asteroids.
It is capable of mining, alright, but mining requires less raw cargo space as turning in the haulage is just a matter of mere minutes. I prefer the Clipper for hauling, the 'conda is probably the best ship for that and the T9 and the Beluga are tied in the "sub par but still very capable" category of miners, both having their own upsides but generally being less than optimal in one aspect or the other.
don't cutters cost like 1.5billion or something to pimp out and make them worthy tho?
If you shield stack prismatic shields, yes
