How Do You Get Fuel?
Okay, first time playing. Done the shooty and mining tutorials, off to my first delivery. I kept on jumping to systems, but ran out of gas. How do I get more fuel? Iirc there's the scoop thing, but when I deploy my cargo it's not getting anything from the star.

fuel scoops work automaticly. You don't deploy anything, just fly close enough to the star and slowly circle around it. You will start collectin fuel then.

The other way to get fuel is to land at a outpost or station and buy it.

Edit: you do this while in super cruise.......you had to drop out to deploy your cargo scoop. Don't do that. Stay in SC and circle the star.

Either refuel at stations, or buy a Fuel Scoop. To use the Fuel Scoop just get close to a star and your ship will automatically start refuelling, you don't need to do anything.

Keep in mind that not all stars can be scooped for fuel. So if you already have approached the star so close, that it turned red on your radar, but scooping didn't begin - it's the unscoopable star. Luckily, most of stars in the habitable Bubble are scoopable. Scoopable star types are K, G, B, F, O, A, M (KGB Foam - easy to remember). You can see the next star's type in an information field (top right on your HUD), when you start charging your FSD to jump there.

You don't need to do anything, apart from make sure you don't fly into the star... Sounds obvious... But you'd be surprised...

I was kind of giving the OP the benefit of the doubt that they would know that flying into a fiery sun wouldn't be great for the paintwork.

It's actually fairly easy to get to close and accidentially fly into a star.....I know this from experiance, sorry to say.....;o(

awesome! This game doesn't explain much as you go but thanks to the community and figuring things out through trial and error it's ok. I'm just starting out to and learning so much every time I play it's kinda overwhelming but amazing!😀

If you don't throttle down to 0 when the FSD count down starts (or while in witch space, or as soon as you arrive) your ship will start heading to the star upon arrival. Since you are so close to the star upon arrival, new players might panic and not know what to do before the sparks start to fly.

I just did a short 1000ly trip out the bubble and came back to an edge station. Last jumping station system and I forgot to hit stop on the engines while in the shift tunnel. After shifting things got relatively hot.....

That and pull away from the star if you get too hot. Some ships run hot enough that you can't stay at a star for too long and fuel scoop to your heart's content. Though there's nothing to stop you from diving back close to the star to resume fuel scooping once your temperature is down again.

If you actually run out of fuel and can't jump, call the fuel rats: www.fuelrats.com
