Panther Clipper?
Any news on a possible Panther Clipper release in 2.4?

What are your predictions on internals, hardpoints, and cost?

Don't hold your breath - I don't remember seeing it being mentioned anywhere so far. The 2.4, it seems, will be all about Thargoids.

Don't give up hope. The Panther Clipper will come out on 2.4, you have to believe.

I have more reliable things to believe in, like global peace. :)

There are indications due to dock points in certain coriolis and docking ports on medium stations but first need to change or add cargo transfers (bots?) and possibly player cargo logistics

What a disgusting thought.

Probably wrong.
As I understand game lore the Panther Clipper is so large it won't fit through the toaster slot and will require some sort of external docking port. It's one of those legendary ships you keep hearing about, like the Mamba or Krait, for the longest time the Federal Corvette was on that list too. And we got that! If we see the Panther with 2.4 is anyone's guess, but entirely possible, FDev is notoriously closed mouth on such matters and always springs surprizes on us!

But I hear it's a hundred feet tall and holds 1500 tons of cargo!

Is it even suppose to be player-piloted?

I heard what Panther Clipper idea was merged and gone into releasing Cutter. So only Cutter now and there will be no Panther Clipper ever since its already kinda released and all project is stopped.

The Panther Clipper LX supposed to be coming to E:D (The Braben himself confirmed in November 2014 that it will be coming eventually) doesn't look that much bulkier than the Anaconda, but may be tricky to pilot through the rack and the slot from sheer height, and it generally looks disturbingly slot-shaped: http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=b3760cf65e#2

Maybe they're waiting for the docking aid widget to come to pass :-)

(edit) This newsletter shows it on a landing pad, and from that it will be the biggest footprint that we will be piloting: http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=c0b11fe947#1

Teh Brabz stated that the Panther would fit juuust about scraping the letterbox, and as far as I know there have been zero statements as to whether it got merged into the Cutter (it's all hearsay from the community's part). I personally think it'll eventually come out, and that we'll be let know when the time comes. There's a slew of ships on the Elite universe, and it'd be dumb to assume what we got in the first 2 years is all there is. That said however, the latest development... developments have shown that there's a lot on Frontier's plate as it is and that ramping up the number of ships right now wouldn't be smart in terms of workload, design or balancing. Plus, season 2 isn't shaping up to be much about ships, more about NPCs and laying the groundwork for the planetary stuff, and also perhaps a more convenient content packaging scheme.

So TLDR, there's no news on the Panther, up to and including whether it'll be eventually made available. I'd say yes, but not in the short to mid term.

The Cutter seems to have a different role though. The Panther is supposedly a big, fat freighter and not much else, while the Cutter is multi-role if not combat oriented. I would not be surprised if future updates were to make that distinction clearer by expanding on specialised slots. There is definitely a non-combatant slot between the Corvette and the Cutter.

Still no news about Panther afterall.
Like its been frozen.

I would definitely not call the iCutter as being combat oriented. Yes, it can accommodate serious defences, because of plainly huge internal compartments available. And it can run away pretty well for its size. But combat maneuvering... no, just no. Only if like a support ship, that sits at one place and turrets everything around.

But as a cargo mover - very much yes! Can't be locked, can withstand an attack and jump away. A great cargo ship.
When confronted with #SaveThePanther, Ed and Steve (Kirby) today both said that they probably knew what I was talking about. So: confirmed? :-D
