This game makes no sense.
I just got this game yesterday and i have tried the tutorial it makes no sense. This game does not explain anything of what your suposed to do. this is my 2nd time trying its game it looks fun and i want to play it but it seems like they dont give a dam about any new players to try and teach them the controls.

I know that feeling.

First of all, there's a PDF manual available for the game. I strongly recommend you read it - I'm not poking fun, it actually contains a lot of very useful information.

Secondly, ask lots of silly questions. Elite's got a very friendly community - largely because it's so difficult to pick up and play. We've all been through this ourselves, and there are lots of people who would be happy to help you.

OR if you want direct help, feel free to add me. I'm on for the afternoon and after nearly 600 hours you'd hope I knew the basic controls by now.

Yep, ED is a simulator, of shooting space ship, trading or pirating or smuggling, exploring the unknown or the known, and letting bunch of passanger aboard, mining at space belt or on planet, discovering alien structure, and so on. You yourself do what you want.

The tutorial just teaching the basics of ship maneuver, albiet outdated.

Tutorial is useless. It simulates situations you'll never be in. Learning how to fight in a Sidewinder is like learning how to dance in army boots - you'll never actually do it, and learning it doesn't really help.

Lol, that's funny and mostly true, but just getting into the cockpit of the starter ship is big....along with getting a feel for it somewhat before you get into the real game.

I spent the first day rebinding all the keys, then it'll make sense. Without knowing what each button does, you simply cannot play. So, go into traning mission and use that time to rebind all the keys, and its a lot of keys! XD

Just do whatever you want. I bought it a month ago and love it. Takes about 5 hours before you get the hang of everything.

Just go on Utube and type what you want to know, loads of videos from really helpful players on there and most are step by step that show you what to do.

Exactly. When you're just starting out you get free insurance, so go out and have fun. Wreck a pile of Sidewinders while they're free.

It's a big sandbox. You can join group sandboxes, or not. But your interaction with the universe is limited to your own imagination mostly.

I will make it easy on you so you won't need any tutorials..

Use Q or E to thrust / move left and right.
Use WASD and Mouse to rotate ship..
J use for enter fast travel / exit fast travel.
T for targeting and scaning objects.
U fold and un fold weapons and scanners.
Inside ship when you press the wheel on the mouse you can free look. Look right to see right panel of the ship and left to see left panel of the ship or use 1 2 3 4 buttons to look closer at panels - study the options you see in the panels, it's not hard at all.
Arrows up down left right - Up for more speed, other arrows you will learn in time what they do.
Those are the important basics you must know

Also RTFM! But must admit I didn't until I was about 50 hours in. It's available on the launcher screen under yuour name or https://community.elitedangerous.com (in various languages with an English XBOX version).

I used to have a Battle Sidey back in 2014, but after the AI was buffed it became completely obsolete. With the current combat meta it wouldn't stand a chance.

Honestly, if you manage to do the sidey with fixed lasers scenario in training you are cut as *hell* for the game. Gimballed weapons make everything so ridiculously easy.
