Xbox One controller not working

I recently got a wireless Xbone controller to replace my trusty wired 360 pad which lasted me a good 5 years.

It's working fine in every game apart from Elite, which flat out refuses to recognise it as an input device.

I've reinstalled the game, wiping all traces of it from AppData in the process, updated the controller firmware, but can't get it to work at all. Has anyone else experienced and resolved this problem?

Same problem. In this case a Xbox One controller connected by USB cable.

Bumping this: all of a sudden Elite refuses to recognize either my Xbox Controller or my Steam Controller.

I've never had any issues with either previously, and the only thing that I've recently changed in my PC setup is popping in a new GPU. Both controller still work perfectly fine in all other games, but ED is just not recognizing either input currently.

Yeah, unfortunately I've already tried that and no success. It's very frustrating, as it was working perfectly fine before; no idea what has prompted this sudden blank refusal to recognize any controller input.

One daft thought. You are turning it on before starting the game, aren't you?

Hehe yeah I am - though I did test it the other way just in case that worked, but to no avail.

Not really sure what to do about it; both controllers are recognized by the PC, have no driver issues, function as per normal in other games etc. Urrgh.

Yep. I've also tried it plugged in, to no avail.

Not having this problem in any other game.

I have: my wired 360 Xbox pad presents the exact same problem. The game is not detecting any controller input, unfortunately.

anything more specific on drivers? my game appears to recognize the triggers as "fire", but nothing else (even though game tutorial says to use left bumper, right bumper for throttle)

drivers up to date. firmware up to date. steam up to date. ED up to date.

controller identified, seen by windows & ED. select "default context" .. and same problems.

trying to set control options manually & looks like something (windows?) is interpreting the controller as a keyboard ( A = ENTER, B = space, RBump = LEFT ALT, etc.)

Do you get the same problem OP ?

I fixed it for me: turned off all of the "controller support" in steam big picture. windows no longer maps controller inputs to keyboard strokes. ED now recognises the controls as expected.
