Elite Dangerous

Alexa AI as co-pilot for Elite Dangerous
There is a project going on to integrate Amazon's own AI - Alexa - as a co-pilot into the game. Article:

It is amazing in my opinion! Also the possibilities, AI helpers during gaming. Wow.

Well yes, but this has more potential, as it is more flexible and based on personalized machine learning. Amazon is aiming a ubiquitous computing platform, and since Alexa is able to learn, with the coming Multicrew feature in Elite this truly can be something amazing.

This is already an excellent game, I only can start imagine what it would become in a year or two if Amazon finds the concept interesting (i.e. profitable) and put their weigth behind Elite, and gaming in general.

Although going by the recent dollhouse glitch, I wonder what will arrive next morning, if you tell Alexa to buy a hundred tonns of slaves the night before..

I personally would never buy one anyway, I don't want something in my home listening to me, stuff that for a laugh.

I tend to agree. In all honesty it scares me to death, even Kinect did, sold it too within six months. Technology will happen to us thought.

off topic but yeah the 'forced' kinect was the reason I never bought an XB1 and got a PS4 instead. heck even my laptop has its camera disabled and a plastic disc stuck over the lens. lol Alexa can go away, no thank you ;)

Same here with the cameras, although I went as far as taking apart both of our laptops and pulled the plug physically. You can only be sure that way. Good old usb plug-in cams when skype for me.

Still if you use a smartphone.. I take mine even to the toilet, I bet NSA even knows if I had a bad tummy today. The Kinect was for the kiddo, but she never used it. PS4 ever since.

But this Alexa thing with Elite itches a scratch. I generally cannot wait for the Multicrew to happen, and if having a fully trained and personal AI when the friends think RL is more important, than playing, I would welcome it.
