Cannot complete Black Box Missions
I have been accepting various missions that pay reasonably well for a beginner. When I accept black box missions, I go to the system that has the black box and I eventually find it with no problems. The problem that I am having is that when I return it to the station in the system it is supposed to be delivered to, I cannot turn in the black box.

I should also note that this has happened with every black box mission that I have attempted.

Any suggestions?

I've checked again and I am definitely at the correct station in the correct system with a black box that I got in the system the mission says.
I ran into this recently. There were TWO black boxes. I had picked up the first one I saw and assumed that was it. Went to turn it in, just like you, but couldn't. Went all the way back to where I found it and lo and behold a second canister was floating about. Picked it up and got the message to return it.

So looks like you may wanna take another look around the area. :)

#edit: no idea if this is a bug or intended, but if it's intended the mission statement should change to reflect that, i.e. they should be telling you to collect "boxes", plural.

You need to find mission specific black boxes, not any old random black box will do.

What you need to do is either advanced discovery scan the target system, if you don't have an advanced discovery scanner then you'll have to drop out at the nav beacon and target it and point your ship at it.

When the scan finishes, the mission will update with a target body. You can and only will find the mission specific black boxes in a mission specific signal source near that body.

Let us know if you have trouble understanding any part of what I said or executing any part and I'll explain that part in more detail.

I have the problem that when I retrieve the two needed for the mission but it didn't detect it so when I went to superspeed mode I got a new signal source This repeated itself infinitly so in the end when I stopped I had 22 black boxes and the mission said I needed 2 my mission indicator said 22/2 what can I do about is I have 5 days left
