A couple of questions about buying equipment and storing it:
1. If I buy a piece of equipment (e.g. a discovery scanner/fuel scoop etc.) is this locked to the ship I'm in, or can it be stored instead and I own it forever, able to swap in/out between all the ships I own?

2. If I store equipment, does it stay at that station, or does it follow me between stations (do I have to travel back to the station I stored it at in order to fit it to my ship?)

I'm working on buying and fitting a ship for exploring, so I'm grinding some missions for now. Just trying to work out if it's best for me to just save a bunch of credits and buy the lot in one go, or if I can buy the parts piecemeal and put it all together once I have everything.

Thanks!

You can store modules at stations. It costs nothing to store and you can swap it between ships. It does not follow you around but you can transfer stored modules to your location for a fee.

It also takes time to transfer. The farther away you are transferring from the longer it takes.

Ah, I see. Thanks! Guess I'll just save up for now and buy everything in one go when I've earned enough.

a lot of people pick a system and use it as their depot. keep all their parts and ships in 1 place for easier swapping. you can gather all the parts you need from various stations and bring them all to 1 place.

if you can pick a station that doesn't have a black market so it cant be UA bombed and shut down the shipyard with all your stuff....although a recent community goal suggests that UA bombings may be addressed soon.
