Follow on missions????
I just started seeing these....they have a little chain looking icon. Haven't taken any because I haven't seen one that seems worth my time.

So what are they? Whats different about them than a regular mission.

Sorry if it's a stupid question......just noticed them a couple days ago.

Normal Mission: Go get a black box > Done

Chained: Go get a Black box > We traced it back to this Pirate Lord, go kill them > Up to a total of 5 missions from that 1

I think it's cool, gives a sense of story.

Where are you seeing them? I have only seen them once.

I have been hanging out at LHS 20. Got allied with almost every one and they started showing up.

Also did a bunch of salvage black / trade data etc. missions and I started getting a lot of them.

I guess I should take one, even though they have been low pay so far I think I need to give them a shot.

If you take the follow on mission it'll tell you what it's linked to. Something like "Your recent donation to the cause has allowed the faction to purchase these commodites we'd like you to deliver to X."

Yep I just took my first one.

It said my recovery of black boxes led them to pirate lord Steve Oh. We want you to kill him.

Went there and got in a fight with a deadly ranked Fed Vette. Woohoo.

Was a fun fight made over a million with the bounty plus the reward.

Think I will start taking these now. ;o)

Thanks for the info gents o7

I get like 10 of these everytime i come back from turning in 20 trade/blackbox salvages.

You can get them from various missions, not just salvage-missions.
I've seen quite a lot start off after delivering data.
Some start from scanning missions and so on.

Still think it's a cool way to bring a sense of cohencere to the missions.
I took several of those chained delivery missions, but they were one destination only, like regular ones. After accepting them and plotting my route, I was getting messages that, thanks to my donated money (?) they were able to produce that quantity of that stuff, and I should deliver it. Like this one:

No follow-ups at the destination, just thanks, here are your money.

I got three follow on planetary scan missions from one planetary scan mission. Apparently to determine in which (of these three systems) a faction was hiding. Each was around 200k, I took all three...the first was in the current system and I guess I got lucky since completing that one ended the other two. Got paid for all three. Might have been a bug though I dunno. The text did say "determine if they've returned to" x system.

Not a bug; working as intended.
-you can even stack scanner missions from two neighbour systems and complete them all with one scan. You still need to turn them in at the station you picked them up at.

Following the mission-chains to their end often leads to "Tip off"-missions.
Some of them are cool, others not so much.

What do you do when it seems like you're being offered a follow mission, but the "Accept" icon is red and you're not able to accept?

There's a random chance any mission will turn into a chain mission,

I do believe that 9 months later is a lil bit too late for this reply :)
