Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Why is the download size 25GB?
Is the file size really 25GB? Also, I forgot the email and password I used to create my Frontier account. Will it let me register a new account with this Steam copy?

Steam downloads both 32 and 64 bit clients for Elite, that's why

Also all steam does is launch the frontier launcher, so your Origional email and password will be needed....

UNLESS

You have yet to validate the steam key on Frontier.

I installed this game a long time ago and made an account. I guess that means it validated it.

Most likely. Are you sure you can't remember the email?

Well, I have an idea what email it is. Unfortunately, it's an ISP given email, and I don't have that ISP anymore, which means I don't have that email anymore. :steamsalty:

even without access to the email account you should be able to login (in case you can remember the email and password) on frontier website and try to change your email there, other than that you probably have to try and sort things out with frontier by opening a support ticket.

Is it possible to just delete the 32 bit client without impairing the rest of the game?
Im transitioning to the steam version and my ssd is quite small.

Frontier's support team will be able to help with regaining access to your account even if you lose access to the email account. They are currently a bit swamped with requeasts so it may take a few days.

Check https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=187 and open a ticket (you can do that even without logging into the support system).

If you want it small and efficient, ditch Steam and run it straight through the normal launcher.

Yes. Go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products

And delete everything except the "elite-dangerous-64" folder (contains x64 for the base game and Horizons), and the VirtualCache file (if it's even been generated yet).

Just to complete this comment that is correct...
you can also remove any versions you don't want bu running the launcher outside of steam (navigate to the launcher exe location and run it) then select the version you want to delete, go to options and uninstall game, it uninstalls the highlighted version.
