But i use mouse, keyboard and head tracker for inputs too when im in starports or the galaxy map.
A controller should be work too. I have one, but prefer the Joystick T16000
Other people may tell you different.
But they are wrong. ;o)
^^ Ordered one a week ago.
Its supports whatever you throw at it (within reason)
Elite plays well with a stick, especially if you're used to one from way too many space themed games leading back to Descent in the 90's lol
***That being said, old school space games were more yaw defined than elite is
HOTAS is the only way to play.
You are not wrong.
Even if a mouse might be more precise in targeting (I haven't tried it in Elite, only in older space games), but to have the most fun of it you better use a joystick/throttle combo. "Fun" as in immersion, not in making the most kills/credits possible.
Thrustmaster T16 000 HOTAS
A simple Joystick without big Throttle has not enough buttons... ;-)
If you own a simple Joystick and only want to spend a little money try out the Thrustmaster FCS... It's the Throttle of the T 16 000 HOTAS, you can even add many Thrustmaster Pedals to that FCS as aditional axis
As cynical a thought as this may be, I can't help but feel that those claiming M&K is better are unable to afford a HOTAS and trying to make themselves feel better/less small.
Getting your hands on the FCS can be tricky, it's still very difficult to source in Asia and the Pacific.
I can order one on Amazon and get it in 2 days.
Just don't see why they are hard to get in Australia.
I am serious BTW. I don't mind helping a brother out. ;o)
Depends on both the Hotas and the spacing you decide on
I'm forever used to 2 hands on a Joystick- the second hand resting on the throttle and secondary set of buttons (Eg: Sidewinder and now Logitech)
Tried out my father's hotas X and it feels so "wrong" to me. I suppose it's something to get accustomed to, but for now, a stick is my preferred Elite tool
The money you'd save would cover shipping lol
