Elite dangerous Horizons problem!
I've recently bought elite dangerous horizon season pass for £19.99 I already have and have been playing on the normal elite dangerous... After buying horizons its saying I have to update before i can run it! but nothing is updating in steam at all! I've gone through checks to update the game and it says the game is up to date! wtf!

pretty much I've bought horizons and I have no idea how to play it! in my steam library is the normal elite dangerous logo of the game and when i click to play it it says either play the normal elite dangerous or the horizons... so i click the horizons and this is when it says " The game requires an update before you can run it" please help!

And before you say download it from the site on the web i have! and its not working saying I've got no storage or something when I've got 500gb left lol

Open your search in windows. Type command prompt. Right click on the little black icon that appears. Select run as administrator. Type chkdsk /f and press enter. Let the checkdisk operation complete, you will probably get prompted to run the check at the next system restart. If so, type y and press enter and restart your computer.

IM RE downloading elite dangerous on steam as my internet download is bad! but how do i pick the 64 bit download from steam ?

no I've run the normal elite dangerous before on steam and have had fun playing it... i then went and bought horizons seasons pass and had no idea how to play it.... i loaded elite dangerous from steam and chose i wanted to play horizons... it said i need to update before i could play but nothing on steam was updating... it said the game was up to date etc.... i then went online and typed in my season pass key on the frontier website and downloaded the horizon season pass from their but it didn't work..

yeah thats where i get the problem! the 64 bit and horizons will have a grey install bar next to it...

Steam installs both the 32bit and 64bit versions. The Horizons files are included in the 64bit version. So, no download is needed after registering Horizons.

Have you done the checkdisk as I've suggested. That will sort out your disk full errors.
Did you register your Horizon Key in your Frontier Account?

before i uninstalled elite dangerous from steam it did say under elite dangerous dlc's that the horizon season pass was installed...

hmm that might have been the issue then, because i was playing on the 32 bit not the 64 bit... but it still doesn't explain as to when i launch the game from steam and i click elite dangerous season pass it tells me that it needs to be updated before i can play.

Don't misunderstand what steam says to you. the DLC has to be always activated through Frontier, Steam always says the dlc is installed because you bought it. If not registered correctly the launcher just locks you out of the DLC until proper registration of the DLC key.

to double check if you registered properly go to frontier website, login and check My Orders - is the dlc listed there? if not the dlc isn't registered.

In case it is not listed go to Product Activation Key and type/paste there the key for the DLC that steam gave to you.


Even on the steam version you can launch the game launcher separately, navigate to the game folder and run EDlaunch.exe > if you have horizons correctly registered it should open a blue&black launcher with all game entries listed there (ED 32 / ED 64 / ED horizons / Arena and tutorial missions) if it opens a orange&black launcher without any horizons entry it's almost certain the dlc was not registered properly.

Run the game without steam and look if it even works.
yeah i went onto my orders and it their.... both elite dangerous and delete dangerous horizon season pass,, what do you suggest i do now ? play the 64 bit of elite dangerous and see if it works ??

the launcher says elite dangerous horrsoins and is blue, but when i click on what mode i wanna play, the horizon has a grey install button next to it.... where else everything else such as elite dangerous 32,64 and arena are playable.. its just horizons
