Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Should ED have an option to stream to Twitch?
Should ED have an option to stream to Twitch in the game client?

Would that be better than using an external streamer?

Well, this is the reality of modern gaming. Broadcasting is here. Donations are here.
checks Elite: Dangerous - nope, not in my version of the game. Maybe you are playing a different game?

The market demands and expects it, it is becomming a feature that online games are expected to have and to not have it, leaves them behind.
So far the only one whom I see demanding it is you, and you alone. Aren't you a bit too ambitious to call yourself as "The market"?

A lot of new customers watch streams, as do existing customers. I watch them both to learn and for enjoyment.
Steam streaming already works as intended. So is YouTube video education. There is no need for developers to reinvent the thrusters and to pollute the game code.

I have an idea for you: start a kickstarter so you can pay those developers to get the feature that you want. Do come later to tell us how well it worked out.

Steam streaming is really rubbish compared to Twitch quality and control.

there are just 169 ppl watching elite right now on twitch... i guess if you want to make money via donations there are way betterg ames to stream with more audience.

Right now, but that varies over different times ofcourse. Google sizes of donations, some random people got perhaps 10k USD donated lol from a single person. So, quantity is not everything.

But, steam broadcasting really does suck compared to Twitch, I have far more control over Twitch and on mobile devices, Twitch kicks Steam's behind big time.

somehow i think its useless to talk to you...

No need for hostility and personal attacks just because you disagree or do not like the topic.

No.

They should continue to work on the game, not pointless external features that are already available in a multitude of ways.

For instance I could use OBS to stream to twitch or youtube, or I could use fraps/msi afterburner/dxtory/playclaw (and smeg knows how many others) to record and/or stream.

I don't, I just use shadowplay (or whatever nvidia calls it now) to stream straight to youtube because I'm lazy. No performance hit, uses a lot of bandwidth though (all the streaming software uses a decent chunk of your upload bandwidth though unless you're running low quality settings or you've got a big fat pipe for your internet).

I do fully agree with you that steam streaming sucks though. That's just not a realistic option for anybody xD

I don't care - I don't play games to make money. Many people also farm gold in WoW, I pity them.

E:D is not a money making simulator, and hopefully it wouldn't become one.

Just as DLC's are here. Just as cosmetics/livery is here. Just as P2W is here.

It is a new form of entertainment. Everybody thought it was a gimic when it first appeared, now Steam has it, Twitch got bought for BIG money, it is the youtube of gaming.

Can you get donations in the sale? On twitch? And do you prefer twitch over YouTube? Just I see you join alot of steam streams I used to use OBS for twitch what do you stream in your spare time? Adam.

I dont get this> we can already without any problem use twitch with Elite!
I do sometimes, so do others... no idea what the issue is!

Twitch is theyoutube of gaming, try it. Even the video quality and perofrmance is MUCH better than both youtube and steam. On mobile it is even better than both too.

I watch many games including ED on Twitch now. I have OBS but would only run that if I had another machine to offload the streaming to. Would be nice to be able to do that without extra clients on the same machine. Many games now suport Twitch natively.

This. ED is not audience-friendly game.

I disagree. We also watch people on the beta broadcasting so we can preview them trying it.

That would be an utterly pointless waste of development time, considering there is already a dozen or so game streaming solutions.
