How do I get to earth?
So I'm really new and I took a mining mission without actually getting mining tools for my ship. So now i'm in the middle of space and don't know where i came from or where to go. I noticed I'm not even in the milky way galaxy. How do I get to the Milky Way and eventually to earth?

You are in the milky way. Earth is on Sol, you need to get friendly with the Federation to get the permit to Sol.

Do missions for Federation aligned factions. You can filter systems by allegiance on the Galmap.

Thanks, I'm not sure about factions at the moment and how many there are or if it's worth it to even be friendly with the Federation.

You'll come to grips with the game. There's several thousand factions grouped into Powers which in turn are grouped in the main 3 Superpowers (or independent).

Not to be rude but what made you think you weren't even in the Milky Way? You don't have to be a seasoned astronomer to recognize the general shape of our home galaxy.

Don't think its going to take you days to get the permit, it could take a whole lot longer depending on the way you play the game. Try not to limit yourself to grinding at first and just enjoy the game. There's plenty to do. OH! and the Sol system is not very interesting.

Eh there's a bunch of stations and tourist spots. Honestly if you stick to Federal space you should get the permit in a rather short amount of time.

230h ingame here and still no permit :(

You need to be ranked Petty Officer in federation to get permit to Sol, otherwise they won't let you in

700 hours in game and still don't have it. It should be fairly easy, though, as you only need to go up a few Fed ranks. I never concentrated on it, especially as there is no real reason to go to earth. Technically, it should come naturally as you do missions around the Bubble.

Wow, really?

Maybe they changed the requirements from way back when, because I got it within two weeks from starting or so, back in 1.0.

The requirements are the same, although navy progression used to be super fast for a while after launch.

But yeah, as others have said you'll get it as soon as you hit Petty Officer (rank 4) with the Federation.
