Not sure for general opening up your ship, but if you just directly invite a single friend to a mcrew session it will just be two of you.

and as soon as you got one in your ship you can cancel the search for the second seat

I think some ships only have one seat, i think keelback and fed gunship can only host one other crew member so it depends on ship also...

Keelback has only 1 seat, on it, not 2, for some odd reason it cant multicrew
the cobra, gunship, adder, dropship, FAS, vulture, clipper, python, asp S, Asp X all have 2 seats, so only 1 multicrew member.
the big 3, beluga, and T9 have 3 seats.
But, if you start a search, and cancel search once you have your 1 member, you can prevent more joins.
Alternatively, idk, if your aware OP, if your ship has a SLF, and can launch 2 SLF units, you can have both SLFs operated by your crew, and you dont need a multicrew (pew) member to use turrets. or associated modules.
I consign my Multipews to SLF duty on the gunship, and Corvette in respectiveness-on the vette its 2 multipews on SLF duty, on the gunship, its 1 multipew SLF, and 1 NPC SLF.
If the ship can hold 2 SLFs, you can have both out and CMDR manned.

thx for the reply

btw regarding shieldbooster, one already explained it to me but I've to ask again.

You can see your resistant stats at the right panel.
My shield boosters, when I look at them at the outfitting panel give me 7,5 -9% resistance

No matter how many I stack, or how many are activ, on the right panel under info, I only receive for ever shieldbooster, if 1 or 6 are active +3,5%. I really don't get it.

no you rewrote it :P thx for the reply

so, it depends on the ammount of boosters, and the mods accompanying them.
My corvette runs 4 boosters, 1 Thermal Grade 3, and 3 Aguemented G3, the shield itself is a G5 Thermal resist.
I can upload my statistics panel, if you want. been taking some pics to defend myself against some snarky comments on the forums, anyways.
But, with ships with 4 or less utility, its important to mod the shield for the resist first, then the booster(s) to compensate for it.
By default, a G5 thermal resist shield, should give a max of 65% increase to your thermal protection, so from -20% to a possible god-roll of plus 40% resist on the shield itself.
couple that with 1 augmented booster, and youve already corrected the explosive and thermal you may have lost.
a G3 augment, can get you around 15% total resist, a G5, ive seen upwards of 27% percent.
I havnt finished Didi's unlock, mostly cuz i havnt made the time to go do her.
the gunship pulls a 2 booster spread, and does pretty well, with my poorer booster mods-about 40% even across the board, with some pretty poor rolls-took the best off the gunship when i built my vette.

by default your shield generator, has -20% themal protection, this is why it is important to mod the shield with thermal, not just to correct that loss of Effective hit points, but to also get the secondary of either, increased strength, increased regen, and increased broken speeds.
as well as, thermal resist G5 mattes, are easier to come by in large ammounts, than the mattes for reinforced G5.
Let me know if that was what you were looking for.

as always I can follow those explainations, but I still don't get as I write constantly and most likely I will die uneducated :D why write 7% when it gives me 3.5% :P but thank you and thx to ofan, for answering the same question in another tread
