Dungeon Warfare

This is the best tower defense game.
I have played over 50 td games, maybe even closer to 100. This game destroys all of them, and all the recent ones I play are a let down compared to good ole Dungeon Warfare. I came here to see if there could ever be a sequel and it looks like one is in development :) I would like to buy it early to help fund the dev. This is their only game and it is so great. I would like to support any dev who goes for quality over quantity.

Yeah I was wondering if there'd be an Early Access or something since it seemed like the original had one (The way the announcement was written made it seem like there was) but it doesn't appear that there'll be one - we'll have to be patient :O

And YES Dungeon Warfare is truly one of the greatest, loads of fun and with charming pixel graphics :D

Since obviously you have a good taste ;) I'm curious about youur other favourite TD games. Like a top 5, apart from DW?
If you have some underrated or a bit more obscure recommendations, that's even better.

Without DW2 out, I need a fix of good TD, and seem to have played many good known titles, like
Gemcraft (particularly, chasing shadows)
Orcs Must Die
Defenders Quest
Kingdom Rush
The bloons, Cursed Treasure, and many more... but hopefully I missed couple good ones.

I'm not the biggest fan of games like Kingdom Rush where you have already determined places you can put the towers, and it feels limiting; the freedom of Dungeon Warfare is awesome.

You have limited places in Dungeon Warfare too... there's just a lot more of them available than in Kingdom Rush. Both KR and KRF are excellent.

You might also try less well known stuff like Super Sanctum TD (above average, retro isometric 2D pixel graphics, hard), Revenge of the Titans (charming, fun, nonstandard style TD), or Infested Planet (unique, procedure generated offense/defense Starship Troopers themed strategy with TD elements). Good buys especially on sale.

Can't wait for DW2. Been delayed so long...

edit: The closest game to DW is Orcs Must Die 1/2. Both are excellent, Top 5 in the genre obviously, if a bit old by now. They're 3D with hero control and detailed physics (2 is anyway) similar feeling TDs to DW with a complicated trap/combo point model and far more to build and do. I still like DW more but thats because I find hero control in OMD too manic after a while. You must be on point and perfect at the FPS part to do well in the end game and to me that's boring. I can do it, it's just more stressful than fun. 1 is single player only but 2 also has coop, one of the best coop games ever made. Old news for most I'm sure, but still...

We have similar taste! I can't put in a specific order but favorite 5 would be something like this:

GeoDefense Swarm
Defense Zone 3 - I also played the second one which is not as good but still worth playing.
Tower Madness
Ocs Must Die
Defense Grid - with a bunch of addons is worth playing. (I didn't like DG2 that much, felt like it needed to be bigger)

I also liked one called Hydraulic Empire although it isn't very big. Worth getting on a sale. Also Gemcraft is good but you mentioned that already.

I played 100 others as well but none of them seemed that special to me. I don't like Kingdom Rush for some reason. Plants vs Zombies was worth a play, I think the second one was ruined by micro transactions. Desktop Tower Defense was the first one I played and is still quite good in a very pure sort of way.

I used to hate the kingdom rush games until I started playing it on IOS. They engage you constantly, there is no time for relaxing, which is why I found it hard on a big monitor with mouse/kb PC, instead of a point and click stylus on the small ipad.
