An MMO for the Minecraft generation.
I think Pantheon Rise of the Fallen is better for older players. This does look pretty MMO-lite.

In topic Advice on CTI mode or similar?
I had Arma 2 and OA and I loved playing CTI, I think it was Benny's version but the others were cool too.

But in Arma3 every time I tried CTI, I just hate it. It takes too long to travel and make money, I miss being able to target a town and know where I'm heading. I miss capturing an out of the way town by myself to make some money and then building up a little army or buying a tank/gunship. And then I could usually survive for a while in that if I kept landing to rearm/repair.

But in Arma 3 it seems like something can shoot you out the sky easily and there aren't many mountains to hide behind. Everyone is huddled together in a few hotspots and then the game is over. I miss being able to play for hours or a whole day and capturing far away towns and fragging a tank or something and getting excited at the money. Whatever CTI mode is now, just seems too structured and boring to me.

Is there any way to fix it? Would it be better if I got good? Is there some other mode that is similar? I wish this game wasn't so much work...

You can use Cheat Engine's SpeedHack. It is super easy to use, there are videos.

Is it hard? Will the AI kick my butt or can a noob win with some practice? :)

I don't care as long as it's balanced to be challenging and not insane.

This is your game, then. The single player aspect is amazing. It IS a tower defense game, though there are increasingly difficult AIs (zombies) to protect against. This game is designed to be played over and over, not just once and done. If something doesn't work as you wish, think it over and do it again.

One thing to consider, though, is to have ONE base for your crafting, storage, beautiful home, etc. and another base for fighting the horde of zombies that will appear every Blood Moon. THOSE zombies are the ones you'll really have to contend with and the ones where tower defense will be most important. Create a base, well away from your home, and fight them there. They will come to YOU... just consider it.
Hey thanks a lot! And yep this sounds like my kind of game! :)
I would like to build a base and defend it with towers and stuff. But I would rather play against AI than people.

However, look at games like NMS.. I enjoyed it on release, but it's got so many updates and upgrades, FREE, since then it's now great (despite the initial hate).
Cyberpunk '77 - Thoroughly enjoyed, lost of atmosphere, felt like a Gibson novel. Flawed, yes. But I enjoyed it.
Yer, I also liked 4e D&D too. flame me (not here!) :)
Can I borrow your PC? :)

Yes.
No not true at all. You can't judge the difficulty of a game that was designed for groups of 6 real people, and you are trying to play it mostly alone 22 years later when the game is dead.

When it was new there were players everywhere you went, finding groups was easy. There were no high level players yet, everyone was still playing together. And it wasn't especially difficult, it was the time requirement and tedium that was always EQ's problem. But tedium, time requirement, and difficulty are not related. A game could be easy and take forever or vice versa.

Most of what EQ is now was not in the original game. It was never designed for soloing, it had 20 years of changes and things shoved into it in a cheap and poorly done way. It's like playing Skyrim with 10000 mods. Hate it all you want, just don't accuse the original game of things without seeing it or understanding the context. The original game was different. It had just as many problems if not more, but it had some things which went a long way to making up for it.

Old EQ had its good points. It was more challenging. And took a effort to accomplish things. Thats why people back then had feelings of accomplishment from doing things. And why with way they redid it, feels like simple mode to them.

Did running back for your corpse suck? Sure it did, but it also gave reason to try NOT to die. And gave a reaction from dieing. Most other games have no reason why not too die. Heck bunch of them its common to corpse teleport. Dont want to run back. just die and poof your back where want to be. Its almost a reward for dieing.

To do a quest would take research, reading up on it or trial and error. Now again most games have a line you follow to each location. And tells you exactly where and how to do it.

People that want old EQ are wanting the feeling from accomplishing things. And the effort you put into getting things done. People that want new EQ is due I believe due to wanting it easier to play. Nothing wrong with it. But its different plays styles.

Corpse runs weren't challenging. They didn't cause you to strategize. They were only there due to the mmo genre still being new and the devs not really knowing how to tune for difficulty. Nobody felt accomplished-they felt annoyed. As far as quest lines what's the difference between following a tracker and reading a faq? Not having to keep a separate browser window open just makes it more convenient.

Old EQ was mostly tedious, with grouping with friends and griping about how annoying things were a tradition by the time I started playing in 2004. Games that have come out since manage to be fun without as much of the tedious annoyance. Anyone who thinks old EQ was fun because elements of it were highly unpolished and archaic is either wearing six pairs of rose-tinted glasses or a masochist.

You didn't even play old EQ! You were 5 years late. It had lots of problems with tedium but people put up with it because of how good the other things are. And most of what was annoying and what made it amazing is linked, so you can't screw with one without ruining the other. Some things could and should be done differently now but the judge should be someone who knows all what was good and bad, not the one sided and 5 year late revisionist history you guys are hoping to push here.

They just stated they'd never go back to playing the old EQ meaning they had. Why are you so defensive over an opinion that doesn't affect you?
He/she/it is lying. Why can't I defend something from made up criticism?
