I play on an xbox controller, though, so if you use a wheel your mileage may vary.
The game features real stages, which is pretty cool!
The rest is surprisingly good : the car selection is good and the tracks are were the game shines. They are much more challenging than Dirt Rally and WRC games, awfully narrow and tricky, int the RBR style. If you get the DLC you can race on Pikes Peak 1988 on gravel. The Rallycross tracks are fantastic.
I don't thinnk the game looks bad, it looks pretty solid although a bit dated.
The driving : it is not easy anwer, I struggled with the game before finding satisfying settings for my wheel and the xbox controller emulator. It is now, in hardcore mode, challenging and stressful, maybe more than it should be, the most difficult part for me being the breaking : heavy breaking can make your car go in an uncatchable spin, it is hard to find the right input. I think it is necessary to play with the break settings (pressure and back / forward position) to become efficient anf confident with the brakes. The breaking distances are much higher than in Dirt Rally or WRC games. This driving combined with the hard tracks make the game an original and challenging experience, quiet unique (except RBR). Bonus : all the Rallisport content and feeling is amazing, the transition between tarmac and gravel is perfectly done.
You just need to find the right settings for your controller if you don't want to be disappointed and frustrated. That's what can kill the game.
