Should i buy this? It does look cool.
I've been playing Dirt Rally 1 and i like it but it is very intense and hard. How is the handling in this game? Is it as simmy as Dirt or more forgiving?

It has different handling, similar to other Milestone's rally games. To me it feels a bit more "arcade-y", but in a good and enjoyable way. Kinda like older Colin McRae Rally games.

I play on an xbox controller, though, so if you use a wheel your mileage may vary.

I find the driving physics quite simmy (especially tarmac feels really good) but you have some game-options to make the driving more easy and forgiving (automatic-braking, car-stabilisation,...).
The game features real stages, which is pretty cool!

Milestone games have cars that are a bit too... bouncy. And they look very... plastic-y. If you kiss the wall, you may be spun around.

Tbh the driving experience isn't bad, a little more arcadey feeling than the Dirt Rally games, but I would get the game on sale. SLRE isn't the most optimized pc game and one of the biggest gripes is that the car audio is bad. But if you can get the game for cheap this game isnt a bad casual rally racing game

It definitely has it's quality issues, and not being able to adjust gamepad inputs is a real pain, but the stages are a high point! Definitely worth it on sale. I'd also recommend V-Rally 4, and Gravel
I picked it up, gonna give it a try. The cars look like they're made out of plastic but hopefully the gameplay is fun

It has its flaws, firstly the bad wheel support. I had to use an xbox controller emulator and find the right setting (360 rotation angle and 3% added sensitvity to the wheel axis). By chance vibrations are still communicated to my wheel (not the FFB, this I use autocenter forces from the wheel software).

The rest is surprisingly good : the car selection is good and the tracks are were the game shines. They are much more challenging than Dirt Rally and WRC games, awfully narrow and tricky, int the RBR style. If you get the DLC you can race on Pikes Peak 1988 on gravel. The Rallycross tracks are fantastic.

I don't thinnk the game looks bad, it looks pretty solid although a bit dated.

The driving : it is not easy anwer, I struggled with the game before finding satisfying settings for my wheel and the xbox controller emulator. It is now, in hardcore mode, challenging and stressful, maybe more than it should be, the most difficult part for me being the breaking : heavy breaking can make your car go in an uncatchable spin, it is hard to find the right input. I think it is necessary to play with the break settings (pressure and back / forward position) to become efficient anf confident with the brakes. The breaking distances are much higher than in Dirt Rally or WRC games. This driving combined with the hard tracks make the game an original and challenging experience, quiet unique (except RBR). Bonus : all the Rallisport content and feeling is amazing, the transition between tarmac and gravel is perfectly done.

You just need to find the right settings for your controller if you don't want to be disappointed and frustrated. That's what can kill the game.

It's more old-school game. Physics-wise. It's very challenging and one of the best rally games up to date but you need to practice to be good. However satisfaction when you finish 1st is huge. It's more like CMR, RBR or WRC (from Evolution) game. You will love it or hate it. Try demo version as it's available.
