Steam Link Apple Vision Pro 2D Beta
Hey everyone, we are happy to announce a native Steam Link app for visionOS!

This update improves network performance, allows streaming up to 4K resolutions, and allows you to dynamically adjust the curve of the display in panoramic mode. This client is for 2D streaming only and does not support VR content.

You can get access to the beta via TestFlight here:

Known issues:
  • It is difficult to target smaller areas with pinch gestures. Enabling pointer control with your head in the accessibility settings helps with this. Using a game controller is highly recommended.
  • The OS does not provide Bluetooth mouse motion events when the window is in curved mode. This is being investigated by Apple.

Yes!

Does this version of Steam Link offer any features like foveated rendering / streaming? Apple offers gaze improvements for CloudXR but I am unsure if it's locked down to only that platform for the time being.

so, is it the PLAN to provide VR or ...?
Great first step! Please add support for VR content though as this is a VR headset.
Initial feedback:

- The first time I tried panoramic mode it crash the app. I tried again and it worked fine.
- With a Bluetooth controller (Xbox) connected to my Vision Pro I selected Mouse Mode while on my desktop with Steam and Playnite open (no Big Picture). Here I noticed my mouse cursor would appear inside of the Steam app but go invisible otherwise. I struggled to shut down my PC because I could only see icons move while hovering over them.
- Mic support is great, though I notice some audio compression / filtering when I first start talking. This might be normal.

Wish list
- The Steam Link menu (holding back button) let me power down my PC in addition to stop streaming and stop app.
- Allow me to customize performance overlay in the menu (Back button) while in game, instead of having to go back to client configuration.
- Support for 1440p streaming

Works great for me. Only tested a few games but lag was very good for me, only had one instance of a lag spike in probably an hour of play.

Now let's get VR support in there
Amazing! Would love to see dynamic foveated streaming that “just works”! Would also be cool to see 2D to stereoscopic conversion for flatscreen games in the future.
Some issues:
  • With the PSVR2 controllers connected, only one of them appears listed as the active controller.
  • Steam Link refused to connect if I had my Bigscreen Beyond connected to my PC. Connection attempts would launch Big Picture mode and I would hear the splash screen sound on the Beyond. After a short wait, the connection would error saying it was unable to connect to an IP address.

Thanks so much for doing this!
Love that this is happening! So far I can't get more than a black screen, although there's audio working and the cursor is visible. I'm using Bazzite OS with an RTX 3060 and it works great on Moonlight/Sunshine. Would love to get more into the Steam ecosystem though and have a more polished client.
