[Bug] iOS four-finger “Stop Streaming” does not fully clean up Remote Play and leaves mouse confinement active
Environment
Host OS: Windows 11
Steam Version: 1785799196
Steam Client Build Date: Aug 3, 2026
Steam API Version: SteamClient023
Client: iPhone 13 Pro
iOS: 26.6
Steam Link: 1.3.32.314
Remote Play interface: Big Picture Mode
Summary

There are currently different results depending on how a Steam Link session is stopped on iOS.

Using:

Steam menu → Power → Stop Streaming

works correctly.

Using:

four-finger tap → Stop Streaming

disconnects the client/controller, but appears to skip part of the normal Remote Play shutdown cleanup on the Windows host.

Afterwards, mouse confinement remains active in the game.

Steps to reproduce
Start Steam on the Windows host.
Connect from Steam Link on iPhone.
Start a game through Remote Play.
On the iPhone, use a four-finger tap to open the Steam Link overlay.
Select Stop Streaming.
Return to the Windows PC.
Alt+Tab away from the game and then click the game window again.
Actual result

After using four-finger tap → Stop Streaming:

The host shows “Controller disconnected”.
The host does not show “Streaming stopped”.
Stop Streaming disappears from the Steam tray menu and from Remote Play settings, so Steam appears to consider the session terminated.
The mouse becomes confined when the game window receives focus.
Alt+Tab temporarily releases the mouse.
Clicking the game window again immediately confines it again.
If the game window is moved, the cursor can remain confined to the window's old screen coordinates.
Restarting the game clears the problem.

Calling Windows ClipCursor(NULL) manually also releases the cursor temporarily, but clicking the game window causes the confinement to return.

Expected result

four-finger tap → Stop Streaming should perform the same Remote Play shutdown and input cleanup as:

Steam menu → Power → Stop Streaming

The host should display “Streaming stopped” and the mouse/input state should be restored normally.

A/B comparison
Works correctly

Steam menu → Power → Stop Streaming

or:

Stop Streaming from the Windows host

Result:

Host shows “Streaming stopped”
Mouse behaves normally afterwards
Clicking the game window does not recreate the confinement
Broken

four-finger tap → Stop Streaming

Result:

Host only shows “Controller disconnected”
No “Streaming stopped”
Mouse confinement remains/reappears whenever the game receives focus
Additional confirmation

The broken state can be fixed without restarting the game:

Reconnect the same iPhone using Steam Link.
Establish a new Remote Play session.
Stop it using Steam menu → Power → Stop Streaming.

The host then shows “Streaming stopped”, and the mouse confinement problem disappears.

This strongly suggests that the four-finger Stop Streaming path does not execute the same host-side Remote Play/input cleanup as the normal Power → Stop Streaming path.

Related background-disconnect behavior

Previously, simply backgrounding Steam Link on the iPhone would leave the session connected for approximately 1–2 minutes, after which the Windows host would automatically terminate Remote Play.

With the current setup, the client becomes inactive after approximately the same amount of time, but the Windows host can remain in Streaming state indefinitely.

There does not appear to be a user-facing timeout setting for this behavior.

I'm not able to reproduce this here. The 4-finger menu option requests that the host stop streaming, and indeed, when I follow these steps I see the "Streaming stopped" notification and cursor confinement stops.

Are you seeing a crash on the client side when you stop streaming?
